Except you don’t have to play ladder to get ladder only items once ladder ends all those items will be carried over to non-ladder and you can trade for them. I’m guessing you have not played a game that had an economy in it.
I completely understand how they want to add incentive to play ladder characters, but I just wish that they found a different way to do it other than using runewords that are very necessary to specific builds. Why should people who prefer single player get screwed out of using specific runewords and specific builds?
Perhaps they could do something along D3 lines where ladder characters can open up new cosmetic skins (say for mercs or unique items), or character titles, or something along those lines that don’t alter the state of the game.
I just don’t like missing out on content simply because I don’t have time to play a ladder character.
This is basically it. Sure, you’ll have to pay a bit of a premium for Ladder only items, but that is offset by not having to remake chars every few months.
except i do… thats the point… u cant trade for a “pride” on non-ladder outside of places like jsp.
i very freqintly use obscure ladder only runewords,
pride, oath, obediance
yeah u can quite easily trade for things like spirit, infinity, and grief.
but if i want lvl 20 conc aura on a pride… which is Cham + Sur + Io + Lo
and it can range from 16-20, i cant just find people to make them…
why am i forced to play ladder? i dont want to race to the top, and i only want to start over every 1-2 years… not “every 3-6 months”.
why am i being punished? why cant i play the why i want?
its been 17 year. since 1.10,
i want me freaking 1.10 runewords in non ladder.
SEVENTEEN YEARS!!! have i not been patient enough?
You’re not being punished. This isn’t punitive.
It’s a game, and they believe the way it’s set up is healthier for the game.
I agree with them.
I agree 300%. ALL of the content should be available in single player/local play, all of it… I think it’s complete and utter nonsense that we were denied content in the first place.
A cosmetic, or pet, or chasing the leaderboard is incentive. Different runewords, and therefore power imbalance, is just bad game design.
I disagree. I think in an economy based game, giving an economic incentive to players willing to make the extra effort to remake characters each ladder is terrific game design.
I think the opposite would be terrible game design. Having the option for a fresh economy, but with no incentive?
Way to create a ghost town on ladder. No thanks.
chasing leader boards is no incentive. And No to adding cosmetics or vanity pets.
If ladder offered nothing but a leader board race, I would never play ladder. It would be 100% a waste of my time.
Ladder with special items to find/create gives me a reason to want to make a ladder character. Remove that, and I and most likely a lot of other people wont bother to ever make ladder characters.
Some of this thread’s concerns has been included in the QoL section of the mega compilation I have started, so that it gets more exposure.
