Should we postpone the Release?

They can be looking at mods all they want, it is true they are not an authentic d2lod experience.

“Hey man I love d2 as well”

“Yeah I can’t wait fo find some corrupted gear”

Actual d2 player : “wtf man” :frowning:

It appears that they are looking at common features in mods to setup a litmus test for things that they consider incorporating into D2R. They even refer to the mod community as “this audience - the hardcore audience- like these types of things.”.

Yep I heard that interview. Nothing is stopping them from adding inauthentic things to the remaster.

The gamble refresh and gold toggle/ shared stash are inauthentic too, so it’s not like I’m saying inauthentic=bad necessarily, but it is true that mods are inauthentic versions of Diablo2.

Modified=inauthentic.

Purist want this game to burn so fat chance! Just wait for mods because 1.14 is a incomplete game

Honestly most of us purists are very happy to have discussions about making the game better, but based on your post history it seems you don’t want to discuss anything.

The game will be fine, enjoy your modded single player.

Some of you here were talking about making optional features and considering separate realms it seems, I don’t think slapping the “optional” toggle on every feature is the solution although it fits perfectly with things like the mini map

its true that some of the quality of life changes we want originated from modes, but it doesn’t mean you should disregard them based on that fact alone, there was a need for a change, we didn’t get that change in the base game so we got it else where

I myself mostly a vanilla player and only usually play with a friend on one of the modes, both purists and people that like to play other modes are very opinionated about what they like, but as someone that prefers vanilla I can tell you from experience that I agree with charm inventory, rune stacking(gems might be to far because they might lose value from that implementation), changing of some of the skills in the game back to what they used to be, and other things like keeping Nilthak portal open and killing cow king not being a factor

It’s not like we are shooting in the dark, you can test those experiences right now on modes if you like and give your opinion, from my perspective it didn’t make anyone Over powered and it didn’t change gameplay, it just made your experience better, these are truly “Quality of life improvements” and nothing else, and if you are worried even a bit, I assure you no one will make you go through something that has not been tested carefully

Not this year? No way. I want it already. They can add more QoL changes later.

will you still be against it if they might not support it afterwards?

Yes, i want to play it already but there is no reason to not implement changes later.

It should be released at the end of the year, they have plenty of time. No reason to delay it.

I’m against a delay. Why add a lot of new things. It’s a remaster, wait for D4 then you will get a lot of contents etc.

pretty simple answer, It’s not d4 its d2, why not have amore robust experience if possible

should my sport team also postpone all games cause i think they need 10 new players?

Delay a date that hasn’t even been announced LOL.

As I look at it, D2R is supposed to be a stop gap until D4 is out. They are not making a new game, I don’t expect them to support it like a new game and give it regular updates and balance, that would really piss off the long time players. Their job is to get a remaster out and attract people back to the franchise so they can sell them D4.

I do not think delaying D2R is going to serve that end. D4 is your game to ‘delay and get right.’ D2R is the game to remaster and get it out, don’t mess with it much and get it out for people to play.

I think this remains an open question as well as what other changes may occur pre-release. Blizzard was explicitly asked about this and their response is below:

There are also other quotes/surveys that add to the uncertainty.

On top of not keeping progress, all the stupid changes will turn this into the Diablo 2.5 (The Blizzard Screw-up). It’ll be worse than WC3R. Not buying this ever.

I mean, I hope you’re wrong, but if they replace current 1.14 gameplay with some of the more invasive changes, I’ll be out too. I want to enjoy the game I used to play, whereas a lot of these changes seem like players just coming up with ideas of what they’d do if they were game designers.

Not really the point of a remaster. Rifts, Charm inventory, new acts, new runewords…
i don’t care if Blizzard supports a mod like this or a separate realm, but good god why anyone thinks these should be in the standard edition is just …ugh.

your sport game is feeding on unhealthy gamble mechanics first of all and treat the game as a service so you will get additional content, so your statement is highly invalid regarding our topic

the way you started the paragraph says it all

as you well know, “WE” as the diablo 2 player base been playing this for over 20 years and it is not just a band aid for us

but I appreciate your honesty

this is a cluster of opinions which get through a more solid idea, multiple people give their ideas and input so they can make a more accurate product

and people don’t play “developers” all these features were already experienced by a large player base and should be taken seriously

been through this forum for a while now, didn’t see anyone saying anything about rifts, you like a lot of other people think it will turn to D3, to tell you the truth I don’t actually believe you think it will happen, but for some reason you really don’t like the idea of change

and before you just post another repeated “it’s not a remake! its a remaster!!” please bring some valid points as to why not implement these changes

Pretty simple. A remaster of a 15 year old game, that for the last 10 years has primarily been held up by PvPers, shouldn’t be rebalanced around the whims of people whose extent of experience is sitting in the throne room waiting for players like me to do all the killing.

I don’t think the game should be balanced by people who don’t understand the nuances of the skills/items they’re balancing.

It’s a bit portentous of you to say so, but I understand the sentiment, although I must assure you, I am playing since launch, played classic(D2 without expansions) for a very long time, finally when I got my hands on a friends copy of the expansion I was so thrilled and later on even found my own copy in a store that I could afford back at the time

I have been playing for years, and every once in a while I get back to it and I have been playing a lot these past years

I know how the game works and everything that goes with it, very passionate about the game even if I’m getting a bit old and needs to google how to up gore ridders once in a while

as I do understand the nuances of the game and I do agree with change, if it be charm space, stacking of some sort, some skill changes and other quality of life features and maybe even additional content, you can rest assured this is not the case

it kind of sounds like you are the one trying to act as “developer”

let the people be heard
