Should we help new players with plvl and GR?

I’ve been helping new players with plvl, finding Kanai’s Cube and some GR so they can get into the season faster and start enjoying the build they want to play. From my point of view, it kills the enjoyment of “starting fresh” at the beginning of the season and climb the ladder to being rich and powerful, which I did and enjoyed every second. Though, some players don’t like it and I offer the option to skip it. I enjoy helping them and doing this, I’m currently paragon 1100 and there’s still a lot I can do for myself but helping others is something I found out to be very fun to do as well. What do you think? Should we help other players or focus only on ourselves and our clan? I’m curious to now your answers.

Well, I do help some Lv1 player to power level when I got tired of upgrading my gems sometimes. It kinda make me feel a little bit refresh once I got them to Lv70.

I would say that would be up to the lower level player to decide. Personally, I decline power leveling and GR pushing, but that doesn’t mean I’ll hold it against someone that does want to rush through the game. Not every player wants to feel that ‘fresh start’, they just want to try the season theme where Blizzard made the game truly only matter: Level 70.

Helping others is always a good thing. Think it really comes down different category of players: authentic new players, players who haven’t played the class, and seasoned or re-birthed characters.

Authentic new players should experience the “fresh start” and also complete story mode on their own since it is a brand new experience. Story mode is required and feeling out locations on their own will enhance the overall experience to get a better feel for the game mechanics, layout, skills, bosses, affixes, gear, builds, etc.

Players who haven’t played the class should also level their character on their own to understand the class better (skills, limitations, gear, build variations, etc.)

Seasoned/re-birthed players who have already had experience in the class are usually looking for a short-cut to farming builds. They already have the knowledge to play, build, farm, etc. …

When I start fresh at the beginning of season, since I’ve played all classes several times, I find new ways of power leveling myself. There are several methods (e.g., using the massacre XP bonus for farming dense areas like Fields of Misery/Ruins of Corvus or doing cursed chests, using 1st seasonal char to level a Gem of Ease to 25+, stick it in a lvl70 weapon, and use it on another new seasonal char, etc.). Those are solo methods if power leveling is not available or if you don’t want the help.

The Community as a whole is very helpful and friendly. Glad you are contributing to the community as do I whenever the chance arises.

If this bothers you, then just help folks PL that have paragon levels already. That means they’ve already done it once and are working on an alt.

But in the end, the players are the ones asking. Even a “new” player may have played for several seasons and just doesn’t need to see it all over again.

I leveled to 70 organically this season, but I did boost with the Challenge Rift. And that was a night and day experience. The buffs I got from early gambling and stuff just made leveling seamless. Having “infinite” money helped also.

This is the first season I ever asked for a PL. My computer broke and I got a late start into the season after I got a new one and someone had just said in chat they they were PLing, so I asked. I was trying a new class (Crusader) and I got to 70 in a couple of rifts.

While it is fun to see those levels fly by, I sort of felt like it was a bit of a cheat, but not enough that I declined the help. Still trying to figure out this Crusader though. Not sure I like the set that came with the gift, but it is what it is, and I still don’t have the right weapon.

Anyway, going back to PLs, if people like doing it I don’t see it as a bad thing. The only annoying thing was (in previous seasons) people asking on DAY 1 for a PL. That was just /facepalm time for me.

I’m almost always late to the season. So, I much appreciate the plvl that someone offers. Because of Challenge Rifts, I dont bother with “Initial gear”.

I play hardcore. When I can, I try to plvl people.

But, if you are over p200 and don’t have leveling gear, I won’t help you.

I don’t see helping people as a problem except that those who get leveled up lose out on the feeling of accomplishment you get by doing it yourself. Personally, I try to help people on forum. Since I only play solo, I won’t be carrying someone thru levels (or being carried).

I do help them.
I have fun when they reach p500-600 in one afternoon from para xx

I always get to lvl 70 playing normaly and without a powerleveling. That’s the least to do as a player if you intend to spend any meaningful time in the season - might as well stay in NS if you don’t want to do the leveling properly IMO. For that reason, I don’t do fresh player leveling unless I know them (and even then, I am reluctant).

However, I do help players that are already paragon XX get their alts to lvl 70. I never do paragon leveling though. Get your gear and start meta runs, there’s no point in getting somebody else play in your stead.

A clan mate just PLvled my seasonal DH in about 15 minutes. I only want to mess with the broken cube, or I would have just stayed (very little) on NS.

I do appreciate my clanmates time, and their understanding of my deaths on the GR100 carry…:smirk::smirk:

TPA! i’ve done my share of explaining when running with some of the clan - when i was sitting at like 1100 (NS) and running GRs way above my paygrade - even now I’ll tell guys that are 1k+ where my comfort level is but that i’ll run higher if they don’t mind my dying…

Nah, why bother?

They’re supposed to learn how to play the game anyway, so let them.

I plvl ppl every season. I also receive plvls every season so its an i scratch your back if you scratch mine situation.

Sometimes I also run a t16 rift and a gr for a para 0 guy. Its fun seeing there para jump up 30 lvls when you close the Gr

And sometimes when im bored i also run them a puzzle

Its fun and i like helping ppl

I always prefer to solo level during the first part of the season. But later on in the season I don’t mind helping someone else level up. But I frown on those that ask for power levels during the first week of the Season. If you group up with others and you all level together that’s also fine.

Personally I dislike being carried. I prefer the front line, battling the monsters, etc. I also tend to be picky about how I clear a map. I typically follow a side till I reach an exit when rift running, and if bounty clearing, I do what I need to do to clear the bounty, but I may hit every elite I encounter, as well as any cursed shrines or chests.

So true, I love this game but I’d rather grind out my paragon levels

It all really depends on what you mean by "New Players " Is it someone totally new to playing D3? or is is a returning player or clan mate that are getting a late jump on the season?

I for one have no problem helping people out with a fast PLvL and a few GR’s to get some gear . As a rule of thumb though I will not PLvL a brand new never played before player. There are just some things like at least running the story through one time that we all had to do at least once since roll out . I think it is just part of the game . There are still groups to be found that will run the story and have fun with it and IMHO a new player should have to do that grind at least once before someone PLvL’s them and skips all that experience.

It’s not an MMORPG, so power leveling doesn’t affect anyone but the one being power leveled. So, do what ever floats your boat.

I have power level about 30 people this season. mostly in the clan too. I enjoy helping people not like the mindless that only care about the leader board.

There are some people said to let them do it themselves. Those are the some kind people in a game could careless what you are doing or what you might want. They are the people only care about only one thing the Leader board. Sorry that is how I see it with them.
