I know they are supposed to scale with character level. But, are they really supposed to do literally zero damage at low level?
I made a post about this too. For some reason while your leveling from a fresh seasonal level 1 character, your shadow clones do zero damage, I continued to play thru and saw that once i hit Level 17 it can finally kill something. I’m really curious how the shadow clone’s damage are scaled by/with, and whether this is intended or a bug…
I haven’t had a chance to level a new toon since phase 2 went into effect. But I was looking at the spell lists for the shadow clones. And if I was looking correctly none of them have spells that are below level 17 or so. I wonder if that is what is preventing them from doing any damage prior to that?
That’s a really good thought. Intentional or not, I bet that’s the reason.
I noticed this leveling up as well. I was cursing the season buff as I leveled up, then after saving a pylon for my imminent rift guardian (completely forgetting it was about to spawn a clone), I watched the RG melt in a couple seconds. Wondering why a channeling pylon would up my damage so much, I began attacking trash and quickly realized that my clone was doing insane damage compared to mine. I don’t remember what level I was before and after, but if I had to guess it was probably around 17-20.
Started leveling a new toon for the phase 2 and it was at level 16 when it started doing damage for me. But that might have come from one of my Cubed items. I had a Scourge cubed and watched as my clone exploded as if it had a scourge as well. They do seem to gain the benefit of what ever you have cubed.
These are my results In the limited time I was able to spend testing what weapon effects the Shadow clone was benefiting from or could proc as a Barb toon leveling up.
Benefits/procs:
Thunderfury
Messerschmidts Reaver
In-Geom
Scourge
Does not benefit/proc:
Bovine Bardiche
Sever
Azurwrath
Unknown: Mobs were dying too fast to tell
Ambos Pride
Shard of Hate
The Executioner
it’s the same garbage as in s21. nobody knows exactly how the mechanics work. I couldn’t always recognize the proc even after 2 months. red or light blue map… and then comes a quick ball or fire wall (if not bugged). that’s can’t be serious! because you have to be able to react quickly and position yourself correctly.
I haven’t taken this trash seriously for ages anyway. even primitive information, how clones scale is to much for the boy. or should we puzzle here? Are certain skills / legendaries available for clones from a certain level?!?! huge comedy with infos here.
Sorry you feel that way about the info some of the rest of us are trying to figure out.
