Sets that need attention

Do you guys think there are any sets that need especial attention?

As a Necro main i think pestilence and trags are both really undertuned numbers wise. I also think pestilence needs to be rethought, because the bone spear stuff has never really been used for anything but orotz procs. Maybe make it about corpses and curses? Tragoul’s has the issue of usually just being a better or (more often) worse version of pestilence cause lancer is still so much better than its other skill options, so maybe look into buffing other blood skills (siphon blood blood nova build?)

Raiment monk needs some attention i feel, it really doesnt deal very much damage and the dash part of the build is kind of useless imo.

Pretty much every WD set needs big work.

If anyone else has ideas on how to rework these sets, or other sets they want buffed, you can post that here

A shorter list would be: which sets don’t need work?

Good post. I think straight Akkhans, IK, Roland’s, Raekor’s, DMO, Shadow, and Vyr’s need aide.

The answer will be known after the set leaderboard is implemented.

Every Witch Doctor set needs to be stripped, flushed, cleaned, and totally reworked from the ground up, with many of the supporting items, actually getting a little juice.

There are around 30 ish (maybe more?) Witch Doctor supporting items that are not strong enough to make any of the crazy wide variety of what could be really fun skills and builds ideas competitive. (not including the sets themselves) Surely something could be done with all of that wasted stuff? Put like 1 intern on the job for this entire season and see what he/she can come up with?

I actually made a bigger post on this same topic on the PTR forums. :man_shrugging:

Dont forget to add blackthornes to the list. =)

All WD sets, Trang’oul as you said a blood nova build, Ramirent, Reakor, Akkhan, DMO, Marauder and thats all i can think of suddenly.

DMO would work much better if the bubble followed you.

Blackthornes did get some attention with the 2.7 patch, as the pants will undoubtedly become part of the meta for many builds.

Unfortunately, the attention Blackthorne’s needs is to be removed from the drop tables and given to the blacksmith.

That would be perfect.

Blackthorne could be a universal thorns set. But crusaders would benefit from it more so maybe thats not a good idea.

Crusader Seeker of Light is really bad, not touching it, auto salvage.

Its funny because that set has lots of weapon options compared to others. And hammerdin was so much fun in D2, would like to play the s**** out of a hammersader.

It’s me or someone try to reach the opened (xx) topics or?..

Every set needs more builds. There are so many cool builds that can barely do T16.

I think Meteorblade will have an answer.

I think Crusader is the only class I wouldn’t touch at the moment. They’re in a decent spot. I’d rather focus on other classes.

Barb doesn’t need much. Just needs a balance pass to some numbers and a couple changes to smooth things out. IK could get a rework, but doing that could eliminate one of the current major builds (vile charge).

The rest of the classes could use various levels of attention.

  • Necro has some great LoD builds, but is all over the place otherwise despite being one of the strongest classes. If a set needed to be reviewed I’d look at Trang’s. The class suffers from incredibly long cooldowns on key skills and that really limited builds in the past. However, that’s been slowly improving.
  • Wiz’s Vyr’s, Tal’s and Delsere sets need overhauls. The teleport change coming could be one of the most important changes for Wiz gameplay feel. I’ve mostly avoided Wiz in past years because the class just doesn’t feel good to play. But FB on PTR felt really good and pushing more dynamic styles would be a great direction.
  • WD could use some more variety what with underutilised skills. However, I think its toughness needs addressing asap. Lakumba’s to 8% would be a start. An update to damage numbers wouldn’t hurt either.
  • Monk’s Inna set is pretty irrelevant currently. Uliana could use some smoothing out of its gameplay mechanics. The class is also currently fairly limited in scope being that you’re either playing Wave of Light or Tempest Rush in one form or another. More variety would be great. Also buff Fleshrake blizz pls.
  • DH needs to see Nat’s overhauled. Marauder’s is a fun build, but gameplay could be sped up a bit. Other sets I think are fine and don’t need more than damage tweaks.

Yeah definitely that one deserves some attention. Slow speed is okay if it’s compensated with more toughness and damage to surpass the other builds a little.

Each class has basically one set which sets the bar for that class. Barb has WotW, Crusader has AoV, Demon Hunter has GoD, Monk has PoJ, Necro has Masquerade, Witch Doctor has Mundunugu, and Wizard now has Firebirds.

Nearly every other set in the game lags behind in either damage, damage reduction, or both. If there is to be balance either all the top sets need to be adjusted down (nerfed) or all the other sets need to be adjusted up (buffed).

I doubt Blizzard has the will to buff 20+ sets in order to level the playing field but they’ve certainly proved adept at nerfing the top builds - not that doing so has created any sense of balance.

LoD builds are all over the place as well. Some classes are LoD heavy (Necro, Wiz) while other classes don’t have any viable LoD builds at all (Barb, Crusader).

One reason season 16 was so awesome was that they massively buffed every existing set. So they’ve done it in the past, and with the expanded LBs they’ve set up a situation where they may just do that once more.

I think a finer touch is needed in the future though. More damage is always great, but I’d rather they make builds awesome to play first and foremost. Too many playstyles as it is are just clunky.
