I get disconnected a few seconds into game. Then I can’t connect to battle net

Seems to be all realms, I’ve tried on Asia and EU, too.
It isn’t just D3. It’s a lot of sites. It’s even impacting the sites one would usually check to see if other sites are down. Even Steam is hit and miss right now. Good thing I was headed off to bed anyway.

The second part. Internet disruptions that impact websites is not unusual, but it is not that common to have Blizzard sites down. Not a daily thing anyway.
Blizzard is aware of the disruptions and is investigating. Their CS Twitter did mention it about an hour ago.
Issue seems to be fixed
I still can’t log on, at 9:40 ET on the East Coast. Time to do housework.

Got disconnected in the middle of opening up bounty caches. Luckily I had picked up all the mats but lost some shards and most of the items. Oh well… it could have been worse.
Supposedly internet is struggling in many countries today.

Yeah. Even mainstream news is reporting it now. Seems Cloudflare which supports tons of stuff, has issues with their providers. CenturyLink and Level3 is where the problems are. I know Level3 is a major backbone company that transports a lot of the internet traffic in the US. There have been issues with it before of course, and will be again.
Apparently it is not only Blizz, but a ton of other stuff - Hulu, the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Feedly, Discord, etc.

That might be why I have not had any issues, I am with Comcast.

Same here, except my internet is through Cox… 
I have been playing on and off all morning with no problems. Plus I’m on the east coast too. Plus I have Comcast too and in this area Century-Link is having problem.
Comcast IS NOT comtasic. It’s craptastic! Just like COX is NOT your FRIEND in the Digital Age.
