Can you appreciate how frankly silly, at base, a statement that is? It’s the safest course for Blizz and for any remaster. D2R is essentially a D2 remaster, so if it’s kept mostly like D2, no one will have any real justification for being upset.

Correct if they replaced “all these things”. If they kept an authentic version, the purists are happy. If they ADD an optional modern version, those players will be happy. Win-win and a larger customer base and more more money for Blizzard.

It depends. Already there is a toggle for auto-gold pickup. Separate game modes can be used if a change is more significant.

The only way this could work with minimal issue is separate communities like HC/SC, as Drium suggests. I know all you care about is being able to play game-to-game toggles though, original experience for players be cursed.

Things change, technology evolves, tastes differ. There is no reason not to introduce a separate mode where there is personal loot (either selected at game creation or character creation based on what Blizzard decides). The original global loot mode remains. Old school D2 players get the game they want. Other players can choose to have a different experience.

Actually the safest bet is to provide both game modes and have them be completely separate.

If they just do both, and make it so both can exist at the same time, that’s the safest bet by far

This is much safer and less risky for Blizzard.
