What type are you looking for? PvM? PvP? Any specific playstyle?
From my experience, you need to have a clear idea of how you wanna play the game so you can find like minded people first. Then you ask around, community sites/forums like r/Diablo2 on reddit are as good of a place to start as any. Say for example, you’re looking for people or a clan to play hardcore classic (something I dabbled with in the past), I believe I made a post on either the old official forum or reddit asking if there was any community like that and I found one.
