It has been mentioned a few times. Those that were not logged in during this “transition” were fine.
But those that logged in afterward have issues. Some have solved it by using a personal rollback. Others (like me) have just continued as is. And others have quit till the season officially ends.

There are two legit options now that the season has been restarted.
Option 1 is dependent on if the rollback option, which, due to the extraordinary circumstances, should not count toward the three per account limit, is utilized. The season ends on its intended date, 2/2 or 2/9, with S34 starting 2/7 or 2/14.
Option 2 is, since a complete reset of the season occurred with this unintended error, S33 started yesterday, but now ends in the 4/6 to 5/4 range with S34 starting 4/11 to 5/9.
If all accounts manage to get some of their progress back, it will be interesting to see what happens.
It wasn’t extraordinary circumstance per-se to be playing fav game at 5 pm in sunday, but yea we should get free rollback

But they (exploiters) are not going to use rollback, and blizzard is not going to take anything from them, 100% sure of that.

From what I just saw, if you were inspecting a character in a hero list it showed a snapshot of the combined seasonal and non-seasonal paragon if that character had been logged into during this “season end”. But if that character logs in seasonal with a reset altar, stash tabs, artisans, negative paragon and all…it effectively has 0 paragon and the mainstat that coincides with that. So it doesn’t seem like to me those can be brought over and used at least.
So I understand this may not be the best idea, however I rolled back my D3 account to the 5th of January and it restored everything.
I did see an MVP advise against this, as we only ever get 3 rollbacks, but it restored everything and I am back to where I was, if anyone else wants to do this, go to D3 customer support and type in Rollback or Google it.
I know this isn’t the best solution, but I am playing where I left off, so I am happy.

Just remember, you only ever get 3 rollbacks, use them wisely!
Edit: Be aware, in the rollback screen, you will see you characters listed as off season paragon levels, this is normal, restore anyway from the 5th and your seasonal characters will be there.
2nd Edit: Just to add, your hardcore hero’s won’t be restored, only softcore. Which I suppose sucks, but yeah.
3rd Edit: When on the rollback screen, when expanding the 5th of Jan restore point, it will show your character list as off season paragon levels, just ignore that - it will restore your seasonal characters with their correct paragon level. (it did for me and 3 of my friends.) Any later and it will not work.
Yeah, my attempted rollback to the 5th worked for me as well. Being in a key farm set without other legendary gems, altar, etc. made it worth to try to me.

its not just a “snapshot”, i posted my screen in bugreport while being IN A GAME with the person abusing this
i keep checking again and again
because like you say it should be updated if its just a screen, but it stays at 50k++ main stat at 1k paragon level AFTER he left the game we were together, it means, its exploit, done on purpose and hes not going to do anything about his exploited paragon levels even when i told him ill report this
We play together for a long time so he wants to play, but im not going to respect that bs.

Just saying what I saw on my own account. With the negative paragon values it shows or after resetting them, my hero list inspect of my character showed around 33000 int from 5k+ paragon spent on it, but in game it never had over 13k on my character sheet which was appropriate for the gear I had on and that character being at 0 paragon. I will say that I didn’t bother trying to get any paragon, but I have to assume you don’t go from 0 paragon to over 5k+ that I would have had with them combined before after getting 1

Limiting backup option is one of the absolute worst corpo practice ive ever seen… i might understand its for preventing exploiting the RNG and all, but this is so bad… you are actually punished when blizzard does a mistake, just because they think its a “cheat prevention” to limit the rollbacks or whatever the reason is

the only thing worse is dehumanization in D3 when you get muted you also are unable to play with friends, cant send or receive party invitations.
Imagine… play public games and get mass reported for no reason…or on chat get mass report for something … Getting Muted in D3 makes you unable to play with friends…
It makes no logical sense at all… its the most cruel punishment i can imagine in a game.
I got muted even for making jokes like “pls chat dont report me” aand im banned in 30 seconds… Ban appeal didnt help.
or “i will report all cheaters i see” gets me banned in 30 seconds and ofc ban appeal doesnt help.
And in the same time blizard is not even trying to do anything about cheaters and exploiting the “season end error”, not even making an announcement or putting rollback link somewhere visible

Dunno what to tell you. I wanted to see what was happening with my paragon to decide if I was going to continue in the gear I had and inspected myself and thats what I saw. Not going to argue what other people are doing or capable of. This is just my personal experience take it as you will. Hero list main stat wasn’t equal to what I had in game with negative numbers or 0s spent
Well it looks like I’m back in season on NA. I got negative paragon points, artisans still reset, as well as altar, blah, blah, blah. I’ll try to have a bit of fun while waiting for S34 announcement.
I wonder how this abrupt season ending is going to affect people’s rhythm. We are use to season participation for what ever length folks decide, the short break after season end, and then start of the new season. Right now those who decide to play in the current “returned to season” state are experiencing a season starting a 70 with some gear in place but absent the usual mats, keys, etc. that would be present for the current state of progression. I wonder if this whiplash experience will dull the taste for D3 seasonal play. Hopefully it does not dull it any further than it was prior to the abrupt season ending event.
