Season Conquests

Every season, there are 5 conquests pairs in total (5 each for HC and Normal) which we can complete. All in all, there have been 10 conquest pairs which Blizzard rotates from time to time (not sure how they decide it). These Conquests are supposed to be “Challenging” goals that tests our skills (???), patience (uh) and Luck (…). Wheter Blizzard changes entirely the list or rework them, it’s for them to decide.

Some of them are easy, few that frustrates me and some and a couple I never bother completing at all. But I always make sure to complete 3 of them for Guardian Season Journey.

Which of the conquests are Easy, Frustrates and Never Bothered for you? Here’s mine (I play HC, btw):

Easy: Avaratia, Worlds Apart, Lionhearted, I Can’t Stop, Need for Speed, Superhuman
Frustrates: Stars Align, Speed Racer
Never bothered: Master of Sets, Dynasty

Below are the list of conquest pairs which are being rotated during seasons.

Avarice / Avaritia (HC)
-Complete a 50,000,000 gold streak while outside of The Vault and The Inner Sanctum

Boss Mode / Worlds Apart (HC)
-Kill listed bosses in 20 minutes from starting the game

Curses! / Stars Align (HC)
-Kill 350 monsters during a single Cursed Chest event on Torment X difficulty

Divinity / Lionhearted (HC)
-Reach rank 75 solo Greater Rift

Master of the Universe / Masters of Sets (HC)
-Master 8 Set Dungeons

On A Good Day / I Can’t Stop (HC)
-Level 3 Legendary Gems to rank 65

Speed Demon / Need for Speed (HC)
-Beat Torment X Nephalem Rift at level 70 in 2 minutes

Sprinter / Speed Racer (HC)
-Complete Acts I through V at max level in under 1 hour

The Thrill / Super Human (HC)
-Reach Greater Rift 45 without any Set Items

Years of War / Dynasty (HC)
-Reach Greater Rift 55 with Set Effects from 6 Class Sets

Any conquest that requires you to start and fully gear a second toon SUCKS.

Well, I’m a true solo player for seasons. So some conquests are okay for me, some are not. I always play SC and HC in season to get a guaranteed primal in both game modes. That being said, usually I have enough options to complete Guardian and that’s all I care for.

I do these, albeit Curses is a bit annoying… it’s doable for me.
Avarice / Avaritia (HC)
Curses! / Stars Align (HC)
Divinity / Lionhearted (HC)
On A Good Day / I Can’t Stop (HC)
The Thrill / Super Human (HC)

I don’t even bother trying to do any of these:
Boss Mode / Worlds Apart (HC)
Master of the Universe / Masters of Sets (HC)
Speed Demon / Need for Speed (HC)
Sprinter / Speed Racer (HC)
Years of War / Dynasty (HC)

Hopefully there is no season were those five will be together. If so, I might have to do the GR55 with six sets as the least annoying one and then go for Speed Demon. Actually, I remember doing that speed thing once by accident, but not in season. So it’s at least doable but for those five are a damn pain in the rear.

I can so agree with this

This season I actually got lucky. I managed to kill two birds with one stone, 2 conquests with 1 toon.

Was levelling up a HC DH for the GR75 conquest when I stumbled upon the Cursed Peat during a bounty run, it wasn’t even a bounty. And by that time I was fully geared to tackle it solo. Almost 400 kills.

And I ended up completing 99% of the entire seasonal journey with the toon that was originally meant to be the quick backup just for GR75. But with 2.5 billion effective Toughness, they couldn’t even scratch my surface.

Got 5+ error 1016 DC’s during the whole thing, with at least 1 elite pack in my face when it happened, survived each and every time.

I wouldn’t expect any new conquests to be added.

We haven’t seen any new conquests since season 5 when Master of the Universe / Master of Sets was added. It’s literally been a rotation of the same set of 10 conquests. And 8 of those have been the same since season 3.

Sprinter/Speed Racer - added Season 1
Divinity/Lionhearted - added Season 2
Avarice/Avaritia - added Season 2
Boss Mode/Worlds Apart - added Season 2
Speed Demon/Need for Speed - added Season 2
On A Good Day/I Can’t Stop - added Season 3
Curses!/Stars Align - added Season 3
Years of War/Dynasty - added Season 3
The Thrill/Super Human - added Season 4
Master of the Universe/Master of Sets - added Season 5

An update to some of the requirements would help. Speed Demon/Need for Speed should be updated to T16, Curses/Stars Align should be updated to T16, Boss Mode/Worlds Apart should be updated to T16, Years of War/Dynasty should be updated to something like GR75, The Thrill/Super Human should be updated to GR60 (and exclude LoD) or GR100 (allowing LoD), Divinity/Lionhearted should be updated to GR100.

Many of those conquests were a bit of a challenge when they were first added, you actually needed to optimize a bit, you couldn’t just stroll in with garbage gear and bash them out. The conquest requirements haven’t kept up with the added difficulties. T6 was max when most of the torment-level conquests were added. At one point they updated them to T10, but haven’t updated them after T13 and later T16 were added. Same for the GR conquests, they haven’t been updated despite 30+ GRs of power creep since they were added.

There was a time when my butthole would pucker a bit attempting Lionhearted in HC. It’s trivial now.

I felt the same way, especially with the sorry state of the servers these days.

But luckily the set I’m used to with DH (Marauder) also has one of the easiest dungeons to master and it’s also perfect for the Cursed Peat. Normally the mileage I would gain in Softcore with WW-Rend Barb I got in HC.

Does anybody remember the Kill Belial in 45 seconds conquest (can’t remember what season that was)? That one was super annoying. So glad they got rid of it.

They didn’t, it’s a seasonal objective. They probably realized that it’s far too easy as a conquest. If you’re geared well enough to breeze through GR60, killing Belial within 30 seconds (from phase 1 to 3) can be done with your eyes closed.

It wasn’t a conquest, it was part of the season journey. And it still is, they just rotate bosses for the journey objectives each season. And they adjusted the timings I think, the reason that one was tough was because of the cutscene duration and the amount of damage players dealt at that time. Those timed boss kills aren’t as hard anymore.

There’s only ever been 15 conquests. The current 10 in rotation, plus 5 that only appeared for a single season. 4 in season 1 (reach level 70, T6 Malthael, T6 Uber Diablo, GR30 - although this basically just got renamed and updated to Divinity/Lionhearted), and 1 in season 2 (lore books).

They are all face roll easy with the exception of Sprinter, that one takes some skill. Master of Sets and Years of War aren’t hard, just time killers as you have to gear 2 characters for 8 and 6 sets respectively.

It would be cool if they came up with some new conquests that were actually conquests. As it sits, most conquest leader boards are completely full within 2 days to a week of season start. Each season, they could keep the 5 face roll conquests for those who only want to do Season Journey, then add 5 new ones to actually challenge those who want a challenge.

Boss Mode is easy with a group yes but doable as a solo player. I did it with monk this season. Just put it on T-10 and used Patterns of Justice set with the belt that passively stacks your sweeping winds. Also fist weapon that adds and extra 10 stacks to it.

In the days before LoN (Swamp Land Waders?), I would agree with you. Now, with all the new sets to try out and optimize along with a variety of different play-styles, by focusing on a single class, you may be missing out on a ton more fun the game has to offer.

Gearing a 2nd char geared is pretty straight forward. Speed level by using a leveled Gem of Ease in a lvl70 weapon along with densely populated maps (Ruins of Corvis, Fields of Misery, etc.) or using cursed chests to massacre bonus your toon to lvl70. Once at lvl70, use main char to farm shards/mats for shard gambling/yellow upgrades, use set convert any duplicates, reuse main class’s leftover ancients/LoD/dmg gems to create a makeshift farming build, and hopefully, it doesn’t take too long before you have set #1. Use set #1 to get set #2. With level gems from your main char, GR55 isn’t too difficult to accomplish.

This is assuming you have also collected all 4x sets for your main char for the 1st 4x GR55s. This is done over time.

Choosing a class that can steam roll the majority of the seasonal journey helps. A 2nd class can not only supplement the challenge, it can also be used to help out with farming, gem leveling, and open your experiences to different play-styles, skills, and fun.

This season, rolled a Barb main, then rolled a Witch Doctor, completed Divinity, Curses!, and Years of War between the two and having a blast. Thought WW Barb was fast … but WD Spirit Barrage (Angry Chicken variant) is even faster … and perfect for Curses! chest hunting, Boss Mode, Speed Demon, and bounties.

When doing Curses! … search around for Frenzy/Empowered/Speed shrine to enhance your attacks before starting (the boost does make a difference).

WW Barbs can just circle in a small oval in front of the chest and WW’s will radiate outwards to take out the perimeter.

I did Curses! with my first try.

I’ve been playing PoJ monk but have gathered some other items and sets just in case, so I read that Wave of light is good for it but I couldn’t gear myself for Sunwuko, but I could find most of the Inna variant’s requirements, although I had to wear the ancient daibo since I didn’t have the FW.

The damage didn’t seem to matter too much, was mostly just about attack speed and spirit regen.

Sorry for digging up this year-old thread, but was wondering if anyone has done the ‘Years of War’ Conquest for Season 22. It’s one I’d like to try as it seems one of the more doable options available .

However, I tried it with the Trag’Oul’s Avatar set with no luck against elites. I was hoping I could get some tips from anyone who has done this Conquest

The only set I think I could do a GR fairly easily is the Masquerade of the Burning Carnival but the rest may be tricky (I also need to level up another class and find a set, but that’s for another topic).

You can do GR55 with any class set and a gear multiplier. Scythe of the cycle equipped, Reilenas shadowhook cubed typically for necro.
I’ve done years of war with my necro this season and a barb alt for the 6th.
You need to have an idea how each set works of course.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, still trying to figure out Trag’Oul’s but will try those suggestions.

The Book of Cain was a season reward?

Yes, for obtaining Guardian…

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic ones for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth alongside the Shades of the Nephalem and complete the Season 22 Guardian Journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.
