Season 31 end blood shards

At the end of this season, the number of blood shards in my inventory went up to 1996/1100. What is this?

At the end of season rollover, your non-season bloodshards get added to the bloodshards you had on your season character which can boost your bloodshards above the limit. When you spend them, your max will back to what your normal limit is when you get new bloodshards.

Ya, I rarely if ever play non-season HC, so before the end of each season I max out my seasonal HC blood shards. Currently on ns HC I have 23,000 blood shards.
