Season 22 Theme Clone: Friend or Foe?

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the Act 5 dungeon tile set. (Ruins of Corvus, for example). There are rooms where sections of the floor light up and any monsters (foe) entering that area are “paralyzed” and take damage. Allies (friend) are not affected.

Earlier tonight I was leveling Legendary Gems to Rank 25 (for various reasons) on Greater Rift 34. I was on an Act 5 style map, just hit a Pylon and was passing over one of these floor traps about to enter the next room. That’s when I noticed my Demon Hunter’s Clone had been caught in the trap, hovering in air and hollering like she was dying. Although, I don’t believe she was taking any damage. I think they just expire after 60 seconds.

Still, I thought it was weird and inconvenient, given they only last a minute to begin with. But, I also thought our Clones would be considered our allies. So, she shouldn’t have gotten caught in the trap to begin with.

Luckily, those traps don’t last long. And once it expired, my Clone continued to follow me. Sadly, she expired a couple of seconds later.

It happened twice tonight. I missed grabbing a screenshot the first time. But, the second time, I was prepared.

I’m not sure if this is intended, something overlooked or just another Season 22 “bug”. As annoying as it was, I did get a laugh out of it.

Anything that they won’t fix is now “working as intended” as evidenced by…

Clones sometimes spawn and stand still / don’t attack.
Clones don’t follow players from one map level to the next.
Clones kill players due to using projectiles on reflecting mobs.
Clones follow the player that clicked the pylon, not the hero they belong to.
Clones sometimes are of a different class than the hero that spawned them.
Clones of Crusaders using Falling Sword despawn rather than land from heaven.

Yeah, I know. And that’s why I didn’t post this in the Bug Report Forum. This is one I hadn’t seen anyone report… yet.

I just thought this was strange behavior and thought I’d share my experience.

It wasn’t hollering like it was dying, it was singing in its native language:

:musical_note: We’re caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much, baby :musical_note:

Shadow clones are useless at best.
They can kill you so for sure on HC, they are foo…

Not following to next level makes them useless, by far most pylons in my games spawn near the level exit…

I’d switch them off if I could. Especially on HC. No HC play for me this season…

They’re only useful while leveling. I only play HC and haven’t had any serious issue with the clones but I don’t play Demon Hunter so the worst of the clone problems aren’t an issue. But leveling on each of the servers (I play on all 3) was much easier with them this season. But once you get to the point you’re running T16 or GR80+ they’re a joke and sometimes mess up game play. Like killing mobs before you have a chance to hit them with Bone Armor being my personal peeve.

You just need a faster character so you stay ahead of the clone. I found the clones very useful running GR 100.

Clones were fun at first because of their novelty, but now are more meh than wow. They also at times create that god awful smoke affect that reminds me of last seasons theme.

I know I’m late to the party, but I wanted to thank you for this. Not only do I love this song, the unexpected laughter your post caused is just what I needed today.

You’re really living up to your name. Thank you for making my day.
