How can we save game progression?
I’m in the middle of bounty duty when suddenly I have to take care of some IRL stuff.
I press F5 but nothing happens and Options has no SAVE option…

Diablo doesnt have a save game option. if you have to do IRL stuff port to town and continue later, if you take too long afk you will be disconected and you will have to start over the bounties
What the other dude said
As mentioned by everyone, there isn’t a save progress feature mid-way through a bounty if you play on the PC. If you are however in a single-player game, you can ‘pause’ it by pressing ESC.
As for consoles, I’m not sure about it. But I would assume it works the same way.
I have D3 on Switch as well.
On Switch I can simply power off the console and my progress is saved; ready for resuming when I power it on again.
There is no save game. It’s online only.
Why in the world would you not be able to save your progress? Doesn’t that make progress pointless? The refresh of game areas in campaign is restrictive enough. Maybe I want to sneak in 30 min here and there. I don’t understand the decision.
I can’t ever rememeber there being a time when you could save your game in D3?
It has always been this way. Adventure mode is a random instance of the game when you join it. When you leave (and no one else is in the same game), that instance is deleted. So there NEVER has been saving of bounty progress. If you only got 30mins, thats plenty of time to do 1 acts bounties. Do that act, leave and come back and do a different act then next time you get on. Theres no BONUS for having all 5 act’s bounties done at the same time.
There is plenty to do that can be done in 30min instances that dont require a “save”. If something is taking you LONGER then 30mins, then your at a too high difficulty level.
No Diablo title ever had a save option. And probably never will.
Uh … Single Player, Diablo I. Saves and loads back up to exactly where you left your character.
Most activities are designed to take up to 15 mins. Bounties being the more random one.
It’s been a long while since I played D1, but I thought that even with the saves, all the monsters were reset. So it really isn’t a “save game” but a waypoint save.
As mentioned before, Single Player saves exactly where you left it off in Diablo I when you pick Load Game. The only time this gets an exception is if you start a New Game with that same character.
If people still doubt me, go fire it up (get a copy from GOG or if you still have installation disc, or have the game from your D3 CE), play the game and see for yourself.
Exactly! Maybe it’s just they believe you’ll hit checkpoints often enough, or maybe it was that much more difficult to program, but it’s a pretty big turn off to be roped in to an unspecified time of playing when you’re sneaking a few minutes in.
Some folks don’t care to play it like a race. Completionists for example may want to spend 15 min in each area clearing it out, getting that satisfaction, but there’s not really room for that way to play.
Almost as bad as tying game speed to difficulty in Starcraft 2. Maybe I don’t want to twitch. But maybe I still want to play a challenging game. Why take that choice away from single players?
For me, its almost a miracle if a get the 5 bounties. I got lots of disconections with my internet.
It is really bad that after 24 seasons of updates, the game cant even save some record of bounties (like 2 of 5 completed, maybe a daily reset) or better if i can get a saved server instance
If blizzard dont want us to save local games (maybe to avoid hacking or maybe because they enjoy to keep us complaining), at least they should allow us to save in their servers
