Use a RoRG on the follower and you can equip the Cain set at the same time if running rifts and double your keys.
There are a lot of helpful options. You can stack a lot of useful items for farming.

Cains, Sages, RoRG, shrine staff (sorc follower), shrine extension gloves, the time whatever it’s called amulet…the follower has become the ultimate utility.
Off topic, if the follower dies, do the bonuses get lost until they revive?
Follower can’t die relic still pretty much the only option.

Not quite. You can use esoteric alteration and mutilation guard on them for toughness up to GR 120-ish. So you can swap the immortalaty token to CD or all skills token.

Nice to hear! Gr 120 is enough for me.
And if you want to have some fun and fool a round, you can make a thorns build for them until T16 and GR 70-75
I don’t think that’s right. You can equip legendary gems they don’t do anything.
Well those two are the only leg. gems that work. But if you don’t beleve me than check it out on maxroll in the follower guide.

I was really hoping Boon of the Hoarder worked on a follower.

Esoteric Alteration and Mutilation Guard work on followers but they’re the only ones.
I heard somewhere around here that if your follower has a Gem of Ease in his/her weapon you get an XP buff per kill, but I don’t think it’s accurate. +XP per kill as a secondary affix on follower’s gear will show up on your character’s sheet, but not Gem of Ease.
I tested it both on the PTR and just right now on live, and the Gem of Ease didn’t and still doesn’t work on the follower.
You can however equip items with XP/kill, XP%, Gold%, Magic Find% and gems in the helmets of your followers to receive 20% of the effects. Set bonuses from the Cain’s and Born’s set work as well on the follower as well as the effect of Leoric’s Crown for the follower’s gem. It doesn’t emanate to your character of course.

To answer this question since it wasn’t (at lease unless i missed it), yes, if the follower is dead, ALL emenated bonuses are lost until the follower revives.
For each one that drops. I have gotten as many as 8 in one rift. But that was rare. Still if 4 drop, you have a 25% chance to get an extra one for each one. 4 chances. And you have a pretty decent chance to get at least 1 extra every time. lol
