S34 Challenge Rift(s) - CR397-

DO NOT DO THIS BEFORE SEASON START IF YOU WANNA KEEP THE CACHE!

Monk this week.

AMERICAS/CONSOLE

This is a kinda awkward 4pc Raiment Monk. Main damage is most likely from Tempest Rush (that I didn’t use on the RG as much as I should).
Since there is Focus and Restraint in the build, you should alternate between Primary and Spender Skills.

EUROPE:

Pretty straightforward no set Wave of Light monk. While you have Epiphany up, you move faster around. Not much else to say.

Good luck!

I liked last week’s better.

Yes, you should TR more on the RG. Just get your resources up, then channel TR until RG is dead. With Balance, TR has a larger multiplier than the generator. You should find TR does significantly more damage, you just need to manage your resources a bit.

Over 2k paragon, but they didn’t even assign movement speed from paragon. Genius.

The big question will season start or will they again receive a massive feedbakck from business department to delay it.

And look at weapons and a ring with str on it. Ammy, bracer, pants, belt with int on it. Hat and shoulders no main stat at all. 4 piece build with 2k paragon.

At least there is dashing strike for some mobility.

Typical Challenge Rift troll build.

Exactly. Both NA and EU CR’s look like - let’s do a troll set-up for CR.

My theory is that these challenge rifts were never actually players, and were generated. We were sold on the idea that these were actual players builds and GR run throughs, but we are on CR397 now and all builds have been extremely questionable lol.

What kind of rift is it, and what level?

I can’t check at the moment, but sometimes it’s a rift that a very new character would run.

For example, last week was Nephalim rift, and on Normal difficulty no less. That’s a very early rift and would likely have what looks like a random build.

Now it says “Rift Difficulty 45”

So it is a typical CR this week. Thanks for looking. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, they like to keep the GR level for some silly reason between 45 and 60. Not too many well thought out builds running at that level. If they are snapshotting runs from that range, they are more than likely to get a complete noob build.

Really?

I just checked MadTom’s video for CR396 and the NA one was run on GR45 “rift difficulty 45” and the Euro one was run on “rift difficulty 55”. I am assuming rift difficulty =GR level. To this point, I can’t recall running a CR that was wasn’t GR 45-60 (I do only run for the season start and a CR bag or two for Altar, so 50ish out of 297).

There was someone, either last season or the season before, that went on to reddit to apologize for the messed up CR build after they recognized it was their own build before they knew what to do. One of the funnier posts I’d seen on there.

I might be remembering which one it was wrong, but I feel like it was recent. I remember seeing “Normal” in the upper right.

But I definitely concede that it may not have been the last one.

When you enter the CR lobby, it will always say “normal-70”. When you enter the CR itself, it will then say “rift difficulty xx”. If you do find one inside the CR itself that says it is a normal rift, please link, I would like to see for SMH sake.

Ah that must be what I looked at last week.

Challenge Rifts are always Greater Rifts.

If one had been a Nephalem Rift:

  • Progress Orbs would be yellow instead of purple.
  • The Progress Bar (timer status) would be yellow, not purple.
  • Any monsters you killed would be dropping loot.
  • Containers, if there were any, would drop loot. (Chests, Armor/Weapons Racks, etc.)
  • There would be Shrines and Pylons.
  • When you killed the Guardian there would still be a complete unexplored map full of monsters.

There may be other indications as well. But, you get the idea.

I do remember one that was a normal rift several seasons ago. It was pointed out and empasized as being strange by whoever was making the guide. (Raxx maybe?)

I feel like it appeared at the start of the season when the players from that region complained about the new CR being too hard, so Bliz replaced it with the Neph rift.

Despite being a Neph rift, nothing dropped. And the challenge rift has its own orb color so it’s likely the orbs were the CR color.

Oops. You are correct. My bad.

I believe you’re referring to the Europe Region Challenge Rift 270. Only, I don’t know where you got the idea that Blizzard replaced it with a Nephalem Rift.

Blizzard’s response:

And here are Raxx’s videos, before and after:

Lol. Yeah, I think I have to accept that I may have dreamed it all up.
