S30 Patch Notes Wizard

So this is the Big Balance Change that we were told we were getting, I’m gonna puke.

It’s Literally Gut the meta and reset to a new meta.

Then to pour salt on the wound for Wizard you completely ignore Vyr’s and focus on Delsere’s for 3rd change, iteration, touch up to the set that from my experience NO ONE PLAYS!!!

Yep I waited 7+ years for a tals update and got MeteoRasha instead, But what irks me the most is this is the 3rd or 4th time they made a change to Delsere’s over the course of 2 years while Vyr’s is untouched for the last, what like +5years now.

Well guess I’ll give Frozen orb another go or maybe Pestilence build a long awaited try.

Wiz talrasha meteor nerf 9.5GR,it’s too much.
Please don’t nerf Talrasha set. I don’t want to play with the LOD meteor because the Talrasha set attack can reduce teleportation time, and LOD meteor is clunky.

Yup, they also nerfed Twisted Sword… like, what? And yeah, sure, go ahead and buff the heck out of DMO. Still doesn’t make me want to play it. But that’s fine and all.

I will test the Altar of Rites effect on my NS wizard and then call it a day. And the best news would be if there are no new Guardian rewards in season either. Cause if they recycle old stuff and don’t introduce new guardian rewards, then I’m finally done with seasons for good. That would be the best after all these years.

Looks like they are nerfing potential TK builds except some LoD which are harder to get perfect gears for time attacking. Feels further solo focused patch to drive players onto D4.

I’m offended that my hard 6 days of working on my Firebird wizard this season in SSF was completely ignored! :sweat_smile: :upside_down_face:

No but I seriously expected Vyrs/Chants buff - how long can it stay ignored? (Foreverrr!)

It was:

  1. Tal Rasha
  2. Typhons
  3. DMO
  4. Firebird
  5. Vyr’s
  6. Chants (with Vyrs)

So all this does is move 1 to a lesser 1 and move 3 to a hard 2.

if there wasn’t any Altar for free Apoc, CC immunity 3 goes to 1.

Does the S29 800 spent points buff from 200 points apply as well in this PTR ?

I would have love a change to Vyr aswell as buffing some runes for orbs like the fire one or the lightning so we can have some diversity for arcane orb.

Tha’s what bugs me most. The nerfed Tal Rasha and Meteor. Yes both, because the set not only supports Meteor, it is still the only generic all skills set we have. And it’s basically trash level now. Only LoN/LoD left for channeling skills except Arcane Torrent.

But there’s nothing in this patch for Firebird or Typhon’s. Let’s not even start talking about Vyr, which is in a sorry state. Not that I like Archon, but others do. This is just lame. Not to mention there’s not even a single update to one of all these trash level wiz legendaries, only nerfs to two viable items. The heck?

Give me an hour or so and I will just slap some dmg% on various items for skills like Ray of Frost, Electrocute, Disintegrate or Magic Missile. Or just some buffs like triple damage to signature skills on Shame of Delsere…

For wizards, this is quite a nasty patch. I detest it and no, it’s not because TR got nerfed… that was expected to some degree (overdoing so as well). No, it’s because they did more or less nothing else to compensate. That’s what makes this a sloppy job.

I have to agree with this.

  • Vyrs (or Chantodos) needed a buff
  • Firebirds could have done with a minor buff at the very least I think to make
  • can’t comment on Typhons since the maxroll NS tier list link is broken atm it seems… from wudijo’s video, it seems to still perform

Yet they keep focusing on Tal Rasha and DMO.

IMHO, they can buff DMO all they want but the key issue with the set and its builds is that it’s not as enjoyable to play as TR Meteor. The whole positioning required to hit enemies at the Frozen Orb explosion point is tedious to do for up to 15min. As someone else said, the other Arcane Orb runes really need to be made viable.

Regarding AO… duh, I can think of many interesting things. For startes:

Moonlight Ward:
Arcane Orb gains the Arcane Orbit rune and the summoned shards now follow your travelling orbs in tow. Explosions caused by Arcane Orbs have their area increased by your pickup radius and deal XXX% more damage.

Arcane Orb detonates every X yards while it travels. If Arcane Orb explodes in your Slow Time it automatically hits every enemy in that bubble.

or - if we weren’t in maintenance mode - do something nasty:

Arcane Orb gains the Scorch rune and leaves a Slow Time bubble and a Blazar where it hits. The Blazar’s effect is prolongued until the Slow Time expires, creating a Blazar Sphere that deals Arcane Orb’s damage [3-5] times per second to enemies inside, and also pulls nearby enemies in. Only one Blazar Sphere may exist at a time.

I always enjoyed using the combination of Magic Missile and Arcane Orb. Would have worked great with FnR but alas, with 3 weapons/offhands required to buff AO, there’s no room left for anything that buffs MM.

Some sets/items need more work than a simple number adjustment but at this point in time it looks like that’s all we are going to get.
