S27 Class-Specific Sanctified Powers - Which one do you like

Which Sanctified Power from each class are you the most excited for in season 27?

Me…

Barbarian

  • Whirlwind pulls in and holds all enemies within 25 yards.

I really think the WW/Red set could benefit from this rune/ability more than the tornados. I run this rune in T16 neph rifts or when I farm bounties. But I have to swap it to the life regen rune when I do GR’s, even when I farm GR’s

Crusader

  • Every two seconds, call down Fist of the Heavens on a random nearby enemy.

That and the legendary gem that does the same thing every 3 seconds would be really fun. Imagine if that was added to the set, that would be great. It would have to be a 6 piece bonus ability though. I would be okay with that. I played that set a lot in S26. I think I like it more than thorns. I am not quite sure yet.

Demon Hunter

  • Strafe now casts the last non-channeled Hatred spending ability casted.

This could be really interesting. I would try out as many different non-channeled Hatred spending abilities as I could, maybe even all of them. GoD set is fun. I play that when I want a break from the Barb WW/Rend build. Still a spin-to-win, but it requires more focus.

-or- It’s a tossup really. I am curious about both since I played both sets in S26.

  • Firing Cluster Arrow concentrates its explosive force into a piercing ray of light.

I guess more curiosity lies in this one vs. Strafe. I just want to see exactly how this plays out and if it’s a good thing or if it’s just ‘oh wow that was pretty.’ Thanks to DiEoxidE, now I am wondering if that ‘light’ is a set damage type. If so, which one? Holy since it’s light? That wouldn’t make any sense, this is a DH skill not a Sader one. Keep the runes damage type? So cold light for Maelstrom rune? Fire light for Loaded For Bear? ect.?

Monk

  • The target of your Seven-Sided Strike is barraged with spiritual punches for 15 seconds. This can only affect one enemy at a time.

The first class that got me through Hardcore back in the day. I have a special place in my heart for the Monk, even if I don’t play it as much as the other classes. I did like the 7 strikes build back in the day, when it was under powered and when it was briefly overpowered. Playing that build and listening to 5 Deadly Venoms just seemed so appropriate. It’s the build I go to first when I play the Monk. I definitely want to check this out in S27.

Necromancer

  • Your Golem now picks up corpses within 20 yards. Each corpse it stores allows you to cast any corpse spending ability with the max number of corpses consumed per cast. Up to 30 corpses can be stored.

I doubt I will play the Necro. I am not too wild about it. But when I did play it, I tried to play it like a D2 Necro and I loved using the golem. So, anything to do with the golem and I am in.

Witch Doctor

  • Your Gargantuan spreads Locusts Swarm to any enemy within 16 yards and summons Zombie Dogs periodically. Zombie Dogs now gain every rune when summoned.

Same with Necro. I was never sold on this class. It’s fun, but in small doses. Like the Necro with the golem, I liked the WD with the Gargantuan, or what I would call Big Derpy, more than zombie dogs or any other spells.

Wizard

  • Casting Storm Armor sends a power thunderbolt from the skies that instantly kills a random enemy within 30 yards. Bosses are not killed but take significant damage. This effect cannot occur more than once every 60 seconds.

I never liked the Wizard. It seemed like such a rip off and failed clone of the Sorceress (d2) and Sorcerer (D1). When I did play the Wizard, I used as many passives as I could. My favorite was the storm armor. Now it can instakill a non-boss mob, I am interested in the gameplay. I would definitely make a Wizard over a Necro or a WD.

This is a pull, which will increase the mobs CC resistance, meaning it will be harder for you to use Ancient Spear / Rage Flip to gather large packs (as they’ll be immune). So, fine for T16 speed-farming, rubbish for pushing.

I definitely see your point. No pun intended. It will be an issue to the more experienced ‘push’ players, especially since I see many top Barbarian builds with Ancient Spear / Rage Flip. However, for the slow casuals like myself, it’s perfect. Or like you said, T16 farming.

Wonder how this will play out with multishot… will strafe then shoot multishots like crazy?

Wizard: * Arcane Orb now periodically spawns up to four orbiting charges that will generate an additional orb when cast. All charges from the Arcane Orbit rune now detonate at the same time.

This is going to be sick for DMO Orbit and FO, might potentially replace Twister. Excited to test this!

I was thinking more along the lines of elemental arrow, but mutishot would be fun. All you need to do is cast it once. Hmmm. I see many ideas forming for this one. Most would be for fun, hello Chakram, and a few would be ideal for ‘trash kill’ or ‘rift kill.’

Looks like I’ll be coming back to D3 for barb ww. Hopefully S27 is out a couple weeks at least before D2R’s second ladder.

Honestly I can’t say I’m excited for any of the wizard’s powers. Mainly since I don’t use magic missle, and I usually just play around with arcane orb for fun. So the only one that I would probably aim for would be the storm armor one.

You can only activate one power at the time, and powers offer little gain, maybe up to 50% extra damage, which leads to 3 GR gain.

I hope they will buff the powers, sonst there won’t be much incentive for this season.

Aldhuin:

Even if they don’t change dang thing for the better or worse, and everything in the PTR stays in season 27 when it goes live, at least we can test out different builds to get a better idea of what class to play or see if there is anything of interest to play in the season.

The Witch Doc’s “Pet spreads Locusts” is a QOL at least, you can free up a skill bar, free up “wormwood” and still have all enemies infected so Ring of Emptiess is just so much easier to use.

How does the “One-Shot Kill of the Wizard work”? On paper it seems OP. you clear the trash, and the Jugg gets zapped into 4 orbs.
Nothing to see here

I can see it being helpful in later GRs when every ounce of DPS counts toward the clock. Or maybe it’s enough to get out of a sticky situation. Maybe both?

The wizard insta-kill only fires once a minute though. 60 sec ICD means it basically happens 3-4 times a rift. Oh, and you have to remember to recast Storm Armor… which lasts 10 minutes so you probably won’t be doing that more than once a rift anyways.

Yeah, that part is a bummer. I actually read it as 6 seconds. OOPS!!! That changes everything. Gosh darn it. DAMN MY EYES!!!

I like the auto army of the dead - you can just rift through everything while it clears the entire screen. Great for T16 and also a huge damage boost for GR!

Wonder if UI will be displayed. Its def got some potential if the “targeting” can be worked out. Lure out you nice juicy Jugg away from the pack  and zaappp. lol. we’ll see

Most of the time you clear a big group of trash, you are always left with elites, with very few trash around…if UI is available, and it does what it says…insta kill a Jugg/any elite, it could be be like a 60 sec play window within.

If no UI, then just blast

What do you need to use the spear on them if they’re already pulled ?

Biggest question I have is the interaction with sentries considering M6 is by far our strongest build. Also the rate of fire.
