Rollback confirmed in email but not performed

Hi, yesterday I performed a rollback to try and retrieve the progress on my characters. I received email confirmation that the rollback had taken place, however it has not. I was sent here by support to resolve the issue, thanks in advance!

If you have selected a rollback point that was after the season end (i.e. after Jan 5th, 5pm PST) then you just wasted your rollback. You should have chosen a rollback point as close to that date, but still before it.

Seeing as how the season is not in fact over, and you guys screwed up… Thanks for your help! glad to see after 30 years of being a blizzard customer you guys still have amazing customer service!

The point is: the point I selected for a rollback, showed ALL paragon levels as there, therefore, it cant have been my failure. But thanks for trying to blame the customer for trying to solve your guys screwup.

The point is: It is not the level of paragons that is to be taken into account but the date of the restoration point.

To be sure not to use a rollback for nothing, I had chosen the date of January 4th. I had indications with the number of characters, but even without this clue I would have taken the restore point on the same date. I lost a few paragons but I found my 2 main characters in SSF.
Since then I have “recovered” the paragon levels and I can continue the season

The point is Blizzard f***d up, but no this is my fault LOL

For sure, I have never needed to use rollback in over 12 years of playing…

PITN,

Correct, Bliz is at fault for the season ending prematurely. However, you choosing the wrong rollback point is wholly on you. As was stated above, you needed to pick one that was before the season ended. Picking one after it ended just rolled you right into the middle of the problem.

Secondly, no one posting in this thread is Bliz, including me. Thus jumping on the respondents is not necessary.

Lastly, support may have sent you here, however, it’s not to resolve your issue. This forum is simply a repository for reports, it’s not for getting support.

These are my rollback points for NA server:

(the dates here may be offset by timezone, because I’m in Europe, so the season end on NA for me was on Jan 6th 2am CET)

Anyway, as you can see there’s one entry with mail - this is when the season ended. This is incorrect rollback point in terms of recovering from Blizzard’s, let’s say, mishap.

If I’d opt for rollback (which I won’t, since I retained my farming build, so I can live with it as it is), I should select the rollback point prior to this one (listed beneath it).

Well, all rollback points show characters having paragon, so this argument is irrelevant.

Your only failure here was selecting wrong rollback point. Well, at least that’s my guess - since the confirmation mail from Blizzard does not contain any details about the rollback point selection, you cannot verify it.

Customer support closed my ticket and sent me here. So I’m just being sent around in circles. Whatever. I will just wait for the new season, if I bother to play again. But disappointing experience all round. I wont give Blizzard any more money. Why do you even give me the option of rolling back into… nothing?

It’s not circles, PITN. Based on what you have provided, support said that your rollback completed as expected. When you contested that, they sent you here to report it in case there is something they are not seeing. But it’s important to understand that coming here isn’t to resolve your problem.

As for the rollbacks, their are multiple options so that we can choose how far back we need to go. Sometimes that’s earlier the same day, sometimes it’s a week. And because we’re several days past the mistaken season end, there are going to be some rollback points after the season ended.

The problem (and this is not against you PTIN), is that since the rollback option was made much more visible, some people have taken it as a game, without paying attention.

I warned several people, in-game, not to play with it if it was not worth it (certain paragons and/or objectives), and now…

“I chose the wrong recovery point (2 or 3 times…)”

And to be clear (I already wrote it on another thread): it does not excuse Blizzard’s mistake, but you have to be careful with rollbacks.
