I haven’t played Diablo 3 in years and I’ve recently gave it another spin. I’ve done alright, started in the first week of May and I’ve hit into the 200’s on the DH board and right at 2500 paragon mark. I’m starting to feel that point where the juice is getting less with every squeeze, so I dig into every angle I can approach. I stumbled upon automation, well more accurately third party stuff in general. I’ve sort of come to the conclusion that the vast majority of the leaderboard is stuffed full of automation. 6000 + paragon, really? I understand a real fix to any of this just isn’t in the cards for a game this late into its life cycle - but there might be other ways to adress some of this stuff if anyone on the ghost ship is motivated. How would people feel about “Normalizing” and Capping Paragon at the seasonal level? To provide an example, cap Paragon at 4,000 and stop scaling experience upward per point somewhere around 1200. This can easily neuter the overwhelming edge automation provides with paragon for players that don’t take part in the dark arts. Maybe I’m incorrect here, and if that’s the case I’m sure hoards of nephalim will rush in to defend the status quo.
The insane paragon levels in the first few days has always been an issue. No one person could put in that much time but it is allowed to continue. It is obvious there is RMT at work there. As the game is no longer in development that will not change.
Be thankful though it is not like the rampant RMT over at D3’s sucessor.
Well, paragon caps have been brought up many, many times before. While with good intent, the suggested cap level usually ends up punishing the legit player in a vain attempt to control the cheating.
It really isn’t that hard to hit P4000 in a season with the current scaling. It would be pretty easy to hit it if you stopped the scaling, especially around 1200. My best season, I hit around 3600 paragon averaging 3-4 hours a day of play. I did not play super efficient. I played solo. Didn’t run the meta for xp. I ran a ton of Visions and ENs. Had there not been the xp scaling, I would have easily hit P4000 with this casual play style around a month in a half into the season. Legit players who are dedicated to efficiency and play legitimately more than me would easily hit P4000 in the first week or two of the season.
The best way to deal with cheating is to ban the cheaters.
just for sh1ts and giggles … or another perspective:
I started to play in season 33 (although I was so utter rubbish S33 shouldn’t count) and my NS paragon is 1868. My two s chars sit at 918 and 879.
I’m happy if I hit 3-4 hours in a week. There are more days in a week that I don’t play than that I play. And it’s not for lack of wanting.
Ya I am generally in the 800-1200 paragon range for a season. The 2 seasons I went over 3k, I was retired and motivated, so it was easy to spend 3-4 hours a day average. This season I am back to being unretired and unmotivated, so will back in the 800-1200 range.
There is a small group of players who are very addicted (they are in every game). Simply put, they have no life. Usually, to gain Paragon levels quickly, they play in groups nonstop. Sometimes, they exchange accounts with other players to keep playing continuously. It is like CRAZY racing against other players. These people (mostly young) are somewhat unwell, stuck in a limbo loop, developing mental health issues in life.
Some of them use bots, but they are mostly banned, so they buy new accounts and continue.
Only a Cap Paragon can resolve the situation (for example, 4K is a reasonable level in the seasons). In no season should they cap at 8,000 to 10,000.
It is very rare to find long-time casual players who relax after real life or work; they typically have around 5,000 to 7,000 hours of playtime in none season
Only a hard reset, along with a small adjustment (capping Paragons), can help this game. A remastered version would be welcome.
Generally, gaming addiction is very common and, in some cases, can become an extreme addiction.
