Requires Level 70 game

As stated Altar of rites, Petrified Scream states in red letters level 70 game required. Have not seen one drop between two level 70’s (wiz and sader). Crusader i use for rift farming, Torrent xvi nephs and gr90’s. Seen 3 primals and not a single petrified scream. Is the game not recognizing my character as level 70 and not allowing it to drop? Oh, i’ve gotten three Ramaladni’s and my cube is nearly completed. Over 120 hours into Crusader alone for no scream to drop. I have Annointed on Altar, could this be the issue??

Petrified Screams only drop from Greater Rift Guardians, with a 5% drop rate.

Having a dry streak of them not dropping doesn’t mean it’s bugged.

Okay, dry streak, 120+ hours on Crusader, 58 hours on 70 wizard, no petrified screams, at all… and i’m aware of where they drop from as i’ve played D3 since season 1 till now. Thanks for the effort of replying. Maybe fully read post first though.

The amount of hours played is irrelevant.
Maybe tell us how many GRs you’ve run.
Then we can see how likely it is that you’ve had zero screams.

Just run sub 2 minute GR’s, you should get at least one Petrified Scream per hour that way.

If you include Blacksmith/Kadala/gem-upping time, that’s at least 20 runs per hour.

Good luck!

Like the others have pointed out, it’s the number of Grifts run, not how long you have played the game, or even how long you’ve spent running Grifts.

I’m playing fairly casual this season and I’ve gotten around 25 screams so far. That, however, isn’t from my hours played; it’s from the 100s of ~1.5 minute rifts I’ve ran.

So I’m currently running 3 minute GR90’s with Crusader, I usually run rifts for an hour then run looking for Visions to increase likelyhood of primals, I am on D3 for about 8-9 hours per day sometimes longer as I’m disabled. So being generous let’s say 15 per hour (this accounts for time running visions etc.) For 8 hours a day, and for arguments sake, for 5 days. My math isn’t the greatest but something somewhere is hinky in the dinky.

I made Wiz first, got Annointed open, made Crusader, Crafted gear and started running nefs to level it. I literally just a day ago did the act 1-5 run with it to see if that was the problem as i’ve not done it till then with crusader.

Let me get this straight, you run 15 GRs a day as you only run GRs for an hour a day?

I’m looking at your seasonal paragon of 726 and it’s very low for two weeks of play. It would suggest to me you’ve run few Greater Rifts. (Greater Rifts give the biggest hits of XP in the game.) For reference I’m on about 1800 paragon and have played less than half of the time you have.

Let me state what Meteorblade said explicitly earlier and which others alluded to:

Petrified Screams only drop from Greater Rifts. It will be labelled as a “Key” until you identify it.
Keys do not drop in Visions.
Keys do not drop in Nephalem Rifts.
Keys do not drop in the open world (bounties, keywardens, act bosses).
Keys do not drop in the campaign.

It looks very much like you have been spending too much time in Visions and/or Nephalem Rifts. Petrified Screams do not drop there!

So that’s 15 GRs per hour, for 8 hours a day, for 5 days = 600 GRs done.

So…

  • The chance that a GR guardian will drop a Scream = 5% = 0.05
  • The chance that a GR guardian will not drop a Scream = 95% = 0.95
  • The chance that none of X GR Guardians will drop a Scream = (0.95)^X
  • The chance that none of 600 GR Guardians will drop a Scream = (0.95)^600 = 0.0000000000000430688398525

That means there’s approximately 1 in 23,218,642,606,186 chance this happened.

He’s clearly not running that!

I’m plugging the numbers he gave us into the Diablo 3 Paragon Calculator on Maxroll and if he was running anywhere near the number of GRs he claims to be, he’d be more like 1500+ paragon (allowing a very generous amount of time for farming keys). Given the wording on his previous post, it’s more believable that he’s only running an hour of GRs per day

726 Paragon is achievable in a couple of hours at GR90. Not weeks.

Anyhoo, I have more sanding to do. This house ain’t going to paint itself.

Or is it?

Yeah. Looking at both, their Crusader and their Wizard, the equipped Legendary Gems are a dead giveaway.

(Just which Gems are they leveling with all those Greater Rifts?)

A bad-luck poster exaggerating the numbers to appear more unlucky?? I’m shocked! SHOCKED! Well, not that shocked. :person_shrugging:

Enjoy the sanding! :stuck_out_tongue:

Problem is, your data is horribly corrupted by what you are saying. Time played is irrelevant as it only applies to GRs run. You say you are running GRs 1 hour a day then switch to Visions where they do not drop. Then you talk about playing 8 hours a day which doesn’t matter as you are saying you are running GRs for only an hour.

At your 750 paragon for season running solo GR90s with pools on, it would take 40 runs to do that. If you didn’t use pools, it would take about 60 runs. This also assumes you got zero experience from all the Visions you are saying you are running along with any other activities that give experience. 40-60 runs is not unreasonable for a 1/20 drop rate.

For reference, on SSF HC, SSF SC, regular HC, I got from 1-3 screams in the first 20 GRs. When I went to regular SC, it took me 90 runs to get my first scream. After that, I got 3 in 20 runs.

RNG = RNG.

Okay, no, i don’t run exclusively gr90’s that is what i have been able to run at around 3 minutes per for the last few days. I do break things up some, and run other “activities” as it were. I am still gearing this crusader up as i go so i would run lower GR’s and sometimes, only sometimes will i run bounties and if a vision pops i will run it as well. Otherwise i run GR’s. Since nobody answered the question about Annointed causing issues, consider this topic closed. Everyone wants to talk about everything else other than the question posed. Thanks all, good day.

Upon rereading your original post, that’s a fair question and no, no-one answered it directly.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Anointed is one of the first nodes unlocked by everyone. All it does it removes a level requirement for things to be used. It doesn’t remove their actual level, if that makes sense. It doesn’t impact drop rates at all. And everyone has given you sufficient information to obtain Petrified Screams now. Good luck!

Apologies, figured it was another “RNG is broken thread”.

If the only question you wanted answered was about “Annointed” affecting drop rates of screams, the answer is no, it doesn’t affect drop rates of screams.

Petrified Scream drop rate is not affected by the GR level, BTW.

That’s why I suggested running as fast as possible GR’s (I was ignoring GR90+, as for loot purposes, but didn’t mention it).

Everyone wanted to talk about how unlikely what you were claiming was, you mean?
Especially since you’re posting in Bug Report without any evidence of a bug.
