Long ago, without LoD, GR45 Conquest without any set items, was a 5-7 min job. After LoD, it became trivial even with the very low gem, 2-3 min. So, before HA was so buffed, before GoD (no pun intended), befor LoD gem, GR55 with only 2-piecet set, except for Shadow, was very hard for average player. When I say hard, I don’t mean undoable, but annoying and struggling, even with Yang and DML.
Now, I still had the feeling that even with NCS, HW, DD and 2-piece GoD 55 would be a bit hard, but I guess I was wrong. Do you remember your GR55 time with such a “build,” approximately?
In truth it was about 5 to 7 minutes. But with T 12, Damage isn’t as important as Damage Reduction. A bit slower than you would with a Six piece set but more than doable and it principally puts you back to when a person was just putting their set together.

After all these years, I am playing D3 only 2-3 weeks on the start of the Season (rest is D2R) and still very much enjoying the fun. Doing ALL the achievements (or almost all), not just Conquests, both on EU and US server, bot HC and SC, and both Solo and “normal”, to get near max or even the max itself (2100 points). So I need many chars, although only 2 are main. That’s why this topic was very informing for me. Also always playing GoD, GoD and nothing but God as the only real fun for me after all this years (ok, I lied a bit, Necro was last Season:). But simply enjoying that build even after a huge HA nerf and finding so suitable for Achievements (some are tricky, like Like Clockwork and The Seconds).

LOL, just thought of something. I wonder if enough people do this trick if one might end up as a Challenge Rift. Oh, the hilarity when the boards light up with “Such and Such Challenge Rift, not even using a set needed for their class, what is this?”

well shadow DH might be good, i haven’t tried that; basically any legendary worth LOD/LON build help a lot.
in my calculation a LOD/LON strong enough to beat GR90 will be able to handle GR55 without the LoD gem/LoN rings?
on second thought LOD/LON DH is so bad you would do better with 2-p shadow chakram build.
in my crusader case it sort of too easy with bombardment legendary in cube (weapon and belt), plus if possible wear 2-piece thorns.
note: with altar building a second class L70 character is way easier, so different class set aproach is more like “antique novelty” where you just used 1 character for the whole season 
This is true. Leveling up a second character is incredibly easy with Altar but then again, some folks don’t have the stash space or character slots (due to mules) to make making a second character not a hassle of rearranging their stash to try to free up a character for rebirthing.
