like i saw one other person typed… Can someone show me where the dislike between D3 & D4 season so close togheter? can find anything about ppl complaining
its to make sure the d4 numbers for this season look good
Yes it would be easier to understand the delay and accept it if i could see the outrage of many people that wants to play both.
But i can’t find this outrage, so its it feels unfair to delay it imo
Edit: I can’t find a single post regarding the two season starts being too close together on both D3 and D4 forum.
It would be equivalent to finding where Bigfoot lives
It’s subtle, but if you pay attention to the word choice Pez used:
Bolded emphasis mine.
He never clarified WHO, exactly, were part of the vague, ambiguous, nebulous, (/checks thesaurus) dubious, “many.” Equally hazy, murky, obfuscated, opaque, is WHO, exactly, is meant by “we.”
My guess? Retention metrics. Shareholders are like feral cats. They’ll spook at the merest hint of uncertainty when it comes to RoI, and when provoked, they’ll absolutely ravage the hand that’s trying to feed them.
Gaming may not historically be very high on the list for what generates profits for Microsoft, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll eagerly tolerate insolvency from their subsidiaries. Blizzard needs to continually prove fiscal consistency, and retention metrics are The Dude’s rug in that regard; it really ties the room together.
It’s the MONEY-heads that don’t want overlap, not the players.
I could be wrong! But, as you said, I certainly don’t see proof positive to that effect.
It’s very frustrating for sure. To wait until the day before is the biggest slap in the face in my opinion. Been looking forward to getting back into the game and now have to wait another week. Granted it is only a week.
In the thread we talked in, I saw two people join who don’t want the events competing with each other.
Otherwise, you’re going to need to go to multiple social media and scour through it all. And keep in mind, it could one post by one person buried in the internet, but Bliz agrees with it.
I had just made plans to play with friends this weekend. This takes planning as an adult. I don’t like this, Blizzard…
Well. I usually play D4 as well and I do spend the occasional $ e.g. for a season battle pass, the odd cosmetics (Sylvanas look anyone?) or the ultimate edition of an expansion. Running 3 accounts for D4. On one, the ship of consequences has sailed… season pass was already paid for. But the other two just got shelved before even starting s7, and the first one is on hold too, at least for this season.
I’d rather go back to reading ‘He who fights with monsters’ for now (got some time, since I took time off for the s34 launch… what a lucky coincidence). Those missing 20-50 bucks won’t make a dent in Blizzard’s earnings report… but it’s the lever I’ve got and I’m choosing to use it.
Could also be that they have some data from previous D3/D4 seasons that shows how many people will leave a D4 season for a D3 season, how long they will play the D3 season, and then whether or not they will come back to the D4 season or just call it quits until the next season.
If their data shows that hardly anyone leaves D4 for D3, and those who do often come back to D4 a few days later, then the close proximity of the season starts probably doesn’'t matter too much to them.
On the other hand, if their data shows that a decent chunk of people will leave D4 for D3, and then just not bother coming back to play D4 again after, they probably don’t like that.
Both games are on their service, so I think they could pretty easily compile this type of data. It’s not like with D4 vs PoE where they’d have to guess. They can actually track exactly how many hours someone plays in D3 vs. D4 around the two season starts, and what proportion of players make the switch.
If I was Blizzard, I’d probably be looking at that data, not relying entirely on player sentiment on a (nearly) dead forum.
I largely agree with you, however I would argue two things:
- “There’s a big difference between being ‘mostly dead’ and ALL dead” ~ The Miracle Man, The Princess Bride
- It takes trivial, near-enough as to be functionally ZERO extra effort, to post stuff here. In fact, it would take MORE effort to just shut this place down completely than it would to ignore it as they tend to do right now. Literally, if they’re going to “poll the players” they’re already creating links and scouring posts. Just LINK us to those surveys or those posts. It’s VERY simple.
Otherwise, agreed with your take.
man u cant just get the day moved in this short time. as result i cancel all my subscribtions. i´m angry as fugg.
Bone head move in my opinion, this was my only weekend/week to play D3 for the next month and I refuse to waste anymore time waiting for D4 to become good. It will never be better then D2 or D3 no matter how many things they “after the fact” steal from them and implement into the game at 70% of what they were.
oh ic, that’s 2 many peoples don’t want the events competing with each other.
