Re-Opening The Season Has Ruined The Leaderboards

Ok so earlier i saw a comment in the huge thread about the season ending with short notice, see: Season ending with short notice? - #485 by Whoareyou-21534 about people with a “80-100k mainstat exploit” and decided to investigate the leaderboards for anything suspicious

Sure enough i found something hella suspicious on the EU Seasonal Barb leaderboard

I won’t name names cus call out rule

But in addition to that i saw a few other things in the in-game chat of people saying they managed to bring non-seasonal gear into the season

Apparently what they did was when the season ended, they went to sort their stash and equipped all their GG gear they had stored to their characters, and when the season was restored and their char went back to seasonal, they kept all that non-seasonal gear

So i think the “80-100k mainstat” is also people that allocated LOADS of paragon points when their char was momentarily non-seasonal, and it somehow kept the stats when it went back to seasonal

So yeah there’s some people now with 15-20k paragons worth of mainstat and bis gg gear from non-seasonal that are now going to have fun taking places on the seasonal leaderboards

I think this is the peak for how bad its going to get

Just end the season already…

and delete any clear that happened after you shut it down the first time because there’s people with absolute god mode just laughing through the rifts right now

Yes are we going to get ban?
I personally bring 2.2k paragon and 1 bane of stricken lvl120 with me.
I think they should clean leaderboards but banning accounts would be too much.

If you play with rebirthing characters it is totally normal after season end to merge your build with the best gear available in the non seasonal stash and assign your paragon points. Nobody could have guessed that the season gets reactivated and the char moved back to season in this state.
Banning people for giving it a spin then would be totally ridiculous.

Seems this mystery got deeper as the guy i was watching with these 83k stats managed to create another character and somehow has near the same level of stats on that

I have no idea how he did that because he’s seemingly made that character AFTER the season was reactivated but he’s still somehow transferred over his paragon

This imo is now crossing over the line and become an exploit, while yes most people could’ve been accidentally granted this by the simple fact they clean their stash and allocate paragons at the end of a season, this guy is now somehow deliberately transferring that non-season paragon to new characters

I mean in an extra level of irony he even name that character “exploitabuse” lol

Imo when the seasonal characters w ns paragon added were brought back they kept that paragon level - makes sense it could be used on other chars. What would be really crazy is that, when the season actually ends, those paragon points get added again to ns para. Ppl doubling up on 12 yrs of paragon lmao

r4 necro world (EU) 2k para, r10 world (China) necro 1,2k para ^^ This LB will be legendary :poop: And because blizz dont care then maybe all should use this Twitch

This almost makes me want to reinstall D3 to see what’s happening.

The radio silence from Blizzard is deafening but probably understandable that they make no comment until they have a response sorted. It’s somewhat complicated by the fact the individual rollback “solution” has been shared and used across many accounts so there’s no clearly-defined point they can go back to if they wanted to. And the ramifications for what happens to those rollbacks used.

Then there’s this exploit being used, perhaps unwittingly, by some. Do you ban for it when you can’t conclusively prove they even know about it? The hacks department won’t want a part of this mess. Do they wipe the leaderboards? I expect a bunch of people would be rather upset by that. Certainly that one guy who tries for 150 on all classes and all builds every season.

The cleanest suggestion I’ve seen is to go through with the season end and move on to S34. Even if there’s a delay between S33 and S34 to get the announcement blog post updated. I like the suggestion someone else made on here that the Tristram event could be used to level up for the next season.

Anyway, good luck with the rest of S33, part 2.

Oh no all 4 people who even look at them are upset? Whatever shall we do?

Sounds logical since Paragon is shared.
If Software gets in a state that never was supposed to happen and there are no extra safeguards weird things happen.

Disable the leader boards for accounts that activated between season end and restart, but that would raise another furl of complaints. I believe this can be easily done, but that also means Season actually ends for people who had no hopes for it to get back at the first place.

When you enter the game without doing anything before or after the fake ending, you end up paragon 0 with the paragon bonuses from your previous progress.
For example I have 40k ± intellect at paragon 0 and leveling from 0 is kids play compared to 5k+
We can call that paragon stacking and it’s pretty obvious, when you open the leaderboard suddenly some 1000-2000 paragon people are getting in top10.
It’s hilarious when you open their profile and see that on Saturday they were 9-10k paragon and on Wednesday somehow they shrinks to 1-2k
I personally done with those season, but I decided to clarify those things.

I saw a necro with 15m damage and 600para the day before yesterday, after EU season got back up. Probably exactly what you are saying.

For me, I don’t have any stats added from paragon after season is back up.
