Possible memory leak in D2 Resurrected. Was playing for about 2 hours, and then the performance tanked. I pulled up Windows Task Manager and D2 was sucking up 13/16GB RAM and I was pegged at 100%. Computer froze. Closed game and was back down to 3 GB use by system. Started game back up and less than 4GB RAM being used.
UPDATE/EDIT: Occurs when you have the stash and/or inventory open for more than a minute. See my reply below with a screenshot. Definitely occurring. Crashed the game and my system when it maxed out.
System is Ryzen 7 3800X CPU
Windows 10 21H1
16GB RAM
nVidia RTX 3080Ti

Hi there…
What else was open at the time?
- Google Chrome?
tends to eat a lot of RAM
Did you check how much RAM the Game.exe use?
You can find that info in the resource monitor → RAM → Game.exe
Game.exe was using 13GB of memory. I had no other applications open other than normal windows systems running in the background. I was in Act 1 the entire time. I had been playing from the start and got to blood moore in the dark tower when I noticed the game performance started lagging and the system was starting to lag badly.
Hmmm… that’s interesting.
I’ve been running the game for more than 8 hrs and in that time frame the Game.exe barely used more than 10GB.
So i have just discovered that having your inventory open or any shop open slowly eats more and more vram untill it starts using sytem memory. Currently my D2R is using 12GB of ram and 8gb of Vram just standing in town with my inventory open, when i close my inventory it starts to settle down. There is for sure a memory leak.

UPDATE: I’ve recreated this when in Lut Gulen and having the stash opened. This is happening in multiplayer mode. I’ve watched the RAM memory grow from 3GB to 10 GB in a matter of a minute.
Doesn’t let me add a link, but I have a screenshot on imgur. com/AFS2jTp.jpg
I’m wondering if I ran into this too…I didn’t check the RAM allocation though at the time… I can say that the game completely froze at one point (Game not responding dialog from Windows), and I had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete it.
I’ll need to check my ram allocation as well but I have experienced similar behavior. I was hung up on my FPS dropping to either 12 or 30 ( depending on video settings , most resolution scale ) when I opened my inventory and picked up and item. Frames would immediately down from from a solid 175-200 and lock at either 12 or 30 ( again, depending on various graphic settings). After testing this many times my game would stop responding , windows circle and need to be alt f4. Makes sense this is caused by a memory leak - maybe something else at play too with the FPS dips while trade / inv window open ?

Same here, for me this happens when opening any inventory UI, game will just start consuming memory nonstop, got to 20gb+ and had to close the game before pc crash
Also fps drops to around 5 to 9 while inv UI is open
What’s your temps like when this leak is occuring ?
Do you still get the memory leak after turning Vsync on and setting your Resolution scale to between 70% and 85% ?

Same when Stash is open for too long, the frame rate tanks and gets super choppy until I close it.
5700XT 4k@80% modifier, Vsync enabled. High on all, Very high textures.
Mainly I discovered this issue in Act II. I opened the stash and just stood there, and things got really glitchy feeling until I closed it.
I am posting so say that I am also having this issue. Def tied to something related to opening inventories/menus
RTX 3080, R5 3600, Windows 10 21H1, 16 GB RAM
For anyone having problems with temps and memory useage try changing the resolution slider bar to anything BELOW 100 (anything 50-99 worked for me) and repost to see if this helped your problems (another thing people are saying is vsync, which will cap your framerate to your monitors refresh rate thus limiting your card to only work as hard as it needs to get the job done and not render frames that go above your refresh rate). Just wanted to share any information i have discovered along my journey through this beta.

Had similar issues after a long gaming period while the inventory was open and moving items
I’m having the same problem. Seem to be tied to the UI because the problem with lower FPS almost always start to manifest only when having an UI element open. Closing the elements often restores the FPS. However after awhile it starts to affect the game whether I’m having an UI element open or not. Restarting the game is then the only way to resolve the issue.
Also I’m using v-sync on but that is probably quite pointless if you guys are suggesting it for framerate capping purposes. Since there are now more users with 144+Hz screens which would mean the framerate would then be capped to the Hz number and not 60 FPS. (I’m using a 280Hz monitor myself).
I’ve experienced the same, the game becomes more and more choppy the longer you play, the inventory becomes very unresponsive when using a controller especially. I’m using a high end PC with good cooling, everything is being monitored on my end with no issues.
There is def a memory leak, and you should restart every once in awhile
Temps are low 70’s. Running fine as far as I can tell otherwise. Vsync was turned on and in windowed mode. I’ll check the resolution scale. I may have it at 100%, but can’t look right now.
I did this(took it all the way down to 50%). What a difference it made! Lowering the internal display rendering seems to be the answer for weak video cards. I’m running a GeForce 940m. It’s just below the minimum standard of video cards. Ran smoothly, very few drop outs, 1600x900, medium textures and settings. Music and sounds were choppy during some battles, especially in the Bloodmoore.
Capped FPS to 60 and haven’t seen the issue. Also GPU temps way down. Disappointed I had to cap the FPS, but that does seem to reduce GPU temps and memory issues.
