Hi all,
Anyone know if the drop rate for the rainbow portrait from Whimsyshire has been buffed at all? I got it in around only 20-30 runs. I’ve heard people doing 400 - 500 runs to get it.
Most people seem to be around 200 from looking online. However most of those were from a few years ago, so I wonder if the drop rate has been increased, as I’m usually not very lucky!

I’ve been working on it over the last 2 seasons and I estimate just around 400 runs. Congrats on the RNG luck!
There is no Sir William. He’s a figment of the imagination. A cryptid like Nessie, Bigfoot and the chupacabra. 
Well, keep at it is all I can say! For what it’s worth, this was my strategy:
I used speed chicken WD with NO pets ie I didn’t activate them. I turned off General Chat (so I could see if I accidentally killed him) and dismissed my follower mostly because his voice was annoying lol.
I did it on T2 and used moltenwilberbeast gizzard plus esoteric even though my non season char is 1200p, so when I reset the game I didn’t keep dying standing still.
I was doing around 1min - 1.5min per run. Didn’t stop to kill anything.

Been doing a couple runs every other day for…pretty much my entire diablo 3 playtime. Ive not once seen the guy and ive grown to despise my luck. Worse yet is all the ingame communities for hunting him are 100% dead so the only way to hunt him is solo. So yeah, not buffed id say.
Im still looking for it… and also still havent found the sword.
Keep at it! I got it on my 100th run. It is still easier to get than cosmic wings (which took me 10 days of farming non stop to get)
Hi, just go it ! Seasonal character (S20), with around 200 runs, my brother got it after 10 runs !
So I decided to try the Staff last night and I kid you not got all the mats and staff on a couple of resets except Cave of Frost that took me about 45 mins went in thinking maybe RNG was on my side and I would get it first try but now let the real grinding begin
You are insanely lucky. I’ve been playing since release. Done over 1k runs and haven’t got wings or portrait.
It finally dropped in a bounty game,… But it was post goblin zone change and he was right inside the portal so only 1/4 players in game received it…
I haven’t seen either since and I simply don’t care anymore.

I honestly don’t know what’s worse -100% of a mob with a >1% item drop chance or a >1% mon spawn chance with 100% chance to drop. I guess the latter in the end. Ha!
BTW, your name wouldn’t be a play on the Romanized phonetic pronunciation of Laharl in Japanese would it (as heard in the intro theme to Disgaea 1) would it?
Yes indeed! haha When I first played Disgaea 1 back in the day I absolutely loved it and the style of the game, notably Laharl. Since then, I almost always use the name Raharl for all my RPGs when it came to naming my character in a kind of homage to him.
Very few people ever pick up on it unless they played D1 enough keep Laharl’s name somewhere in the back of their mind. lol
I have both the Disgaea 1 and 2 OSTs among the dozens of others in my VGM OST collection (nearly all on actual CDs ripped to my HD for ease of playing).
For those that don’t know what I’m referring to regarding the phonetic pronunciation relative to Raharl’s account name, this should clear that up. 
P.S. - The PC port of Disgaea 1 replaced the BGM “Planet X” with a crappy “remastered” version due to what I can only attribute to licensing issues with Atlus, and the new version sucks. That is all. 
Yes! Me too! I have all the original CDs and always bought the collector editions whenever I could after D1 came out.
I remember D1 was a sleeper hit but such a rare game after its release with used copies going on eBay for well over $100+ due to Atlus’ very low print run for it. Thankfully they did additional print runs and gave people an opportunity to get it at retail.
I also have the strategy guides which were made by Double Jump Books which is a town over near where I live. It was nice getting my copy locally before some of my friends did who lived further away in other states. And I actually have the Disgaea 4 figures that came with the collector’s edition in my office at work. LOL!!
Nippon Ichi will always have a special place in my gaming heart. haha
I got Disgaea 3 for my PS3 and didn’t really care for it. Haven’t gone with 4 or 5 sadly because the direction they went with the game systems was kinda ugh. Might get them on Steam if they go for a massive sale like D1/D2 are currently ($10 for both)
The music from the first two was just plain awesome. Still love エトナ Rock (Etna Rock) to death.
