Hi guys, I’ve been away from the game for awhile and just jumped back into it. My main goal is to obtain the cosmic wings from Princess Lilian. I have a very solid route that in the past two days net 100 goblins…not a single rainbow goblin. So my question is have they removed this from game or is my luck just that bad? According to the stat heads like Ryker I should have already seen at least 2 rainbow goblins and they only open the portal…then I’ll have to hope Lilian is in the Wimseydale

They are just somewhat rare. 3-4% of goblins from my data. You’ll have maybe a 95-98% chance of finding at least one after 100 goblins. Congratulations! You’re one of today’s unlucky 2-5%!
My worst streak was 400ish goblins without a rainbow. I also once had 6 rainbows in an hour. Averages are averages, you aren’t always going to find a rainbow after exactly 30ish goblins. Gambler’s fallacy. But if you farm long enough, you’ll get close to the average spawn rate. Law of large numbers. And if you farm long enough, you’re also pretty likely to have had at least one long streak where you don’t see one for a while. And then maybe a lucky streak or two where you get a bunch pretty quickly.

Surprises me this thread appears now. I started a Seasonal character on this account about a week ago, and in that time I have seen 3 Rainbow Goblins. Unfortunately, 2 of them were in the same game, so I only got a little loot from the second one there.
But the wing spawn is so rare I have forgotten about it entirely, and my main purpose for going to Whimsyshire is for the glorious enhanced loot! Maybe one day I will run across Lillian, but I’m not looking for it.

My primary goal is to obtain the cosmic wings. I played since the launch of D3 and all the way back to the launch of D2. I’ve already experienced most of what this game has to offer and due to this ridiculous pandemic I have more time on my hands than usual. I figured after 100 goblins one of them would have been a rainbow one but apparently I was wrong. I ground out the Insane title prior to the nerf in WoW so grinding is kind of my thing. I just wanted to make sure the little devils were still available
Good luck in your hunt! I’ve been in 413 rainbow portals so far. No dice for me.

Cosmic wings are a 300 hour grind on average. The fact that you don’t even have a speed character to farm rainbows on normal mode tells me that you’re barely even trying.
Yeah, Saintmichael, here, I’ll save you some time: make a monk similar to this. Farm on Normal or T1. Nothing is as fast as a R4 Dash monk.

Hang in there, I got mine in a random bounty pub game without looking for them. Sir William was so much simpler, around 200-ish runs.

The biggest problem you guys that don’t have the wings yet is that you are looking for them. Try not caring about them, and you will most assuredly get them very quickly, that’s how I got mine.

Found cosmic wings THIS season. was level 45 and running a split bounty right after season restarted. found a rainbow out of pure luck. Was BLOWN away when cosmic wings fell. ive been hunting for many years.

You’ll get lucky, or you won’t. Trying to target them is like trying to find a golf ball in space.

I feel like I have to get lucky. Ya know, the Loverboy song from the 80s? Put myself in the best possible situation for what I am playing for. Its the cosmic wings, nothing more. So, I found out that the WD 2 set bonus angry chicken is hilariously the fastest way to clear the spots in the game these little devils appear in. Today alone I have seen 4 rainbow gobs but no Lilian. She is mine!
Edit: The Dash Monk recommended looks cool but I lacked too many pcs of gear. Today alone a very cool person power leveled my WD and I had the mats to cube the 2 set manajumas. Angry chicken forever!

Turbo Chicken for the win! Seriously, just keep running goblin routes and you’ll get them eventually. I didn’t keep count but I must have done about 150 Whimsydales. Also did it on T6 so mobs were one shot for faster clears. You’ll be rewarded one day and also a great way to stock up on gems.

Infinite dash monk is by far the fastest build in the game, although it requires some level of concentration which makes angry chicken the best combination of laziness/speed out there.

I hunted for those wings when they first came out, did it solo for three seasons without any luck so I gave up. I unexpectedly got them doing Public bounty runs last night…I’m really happy I got them now after all this time!
