A week ago I happened upon the Standard Expansion (which I bought four years ago) ad in the game and noticed that is comes with a second stash tab. I only have one stash tab.
I webmailed battle.net though the website and they replied with, “your total is accurate. Based on what you’ve purchased and your account history, you’ve only unlocked one free stash tab. In Diablo III (Vanilla), you can get 4 stash tabs that you can purchase with gold. Reaper of Souls comes with 1 free stash tab and 1 that you can purchase with gold. This means that if you haven’t purchased any with gold, you can only have one available. You should, however, be able to purchase up to 6 based on what looks like your progress so far.”
So now I’m confused.
The rep said “you’ve only unlocked one free stash tab”. As I had the one tab the comes with the game originally, and then the free unlocked stash tab, doesn’t that make two tabs?
My husband and I both bought D3 at the same time, both bought the Standard Expansion at the same time, and he has two tabs. It’s very odd…
Another of our forum members has a helpful chart that might assist you.
Some of those you get just for logging in, others you buy for gold, and the last ones for Seasons are earned by completing the Conquer portion of Seasons Journey each Season.
Just to be clear, getting the RoS expansion pack does not get you another free stash tab. You still only get one free. You now have the opportunity to purchase 5 extra tabs instead of 3 (via in-game gold.)
It sounds like your husband had already purchased a stash tab, giving him 2.
So that “Total current = 13 Stash Tabs”… Is that the POTENTIAL of Stash Tabs, not the actual Tabs owned? Should I have two tabs if I’ve never spent 100k on a tab?
Come to think of it, if we spend 100k (or more…) for a tab, does that permanently persist for all characters, season or not?
Everything starts fresh with new seasonal characters. Spending gold on a stash tab is rudimentary and you’ll have more gold than you know what to do with soon enough. Stash tabs that are unlocked permanently account wide are from completing conqueror status in seasons, and the necromancer expansion.
No. The “Total current” number of Stash Tabs you can own is 13, if you’ve earned 5 of them in Seasons. (One Stash Tab can be earned each Season by completing Chapters 1 through the Conqueror Chapter, up to 5 Stash Tabs).
Edit: I may have misunderstood your question. Substitute “maximum” for “POTENTIAL”. In which case, yes, 13 is the maximum you can have if you own all the D3 game products and earn all 5 Seasonal Stash Tabs.
For example: I’ve earned my 5 Season Stash Tabs. I have the Eternal Collection (D3, RoS and Necro Pack). And I upgraded RoS to the Digital Deluxe Edition. So, I own the maximum 13 Stash Tabs. But, each new Season, when I create or Rebirth a Character, I have 8 Stash Tabs immediately available. I then have to buy 5 of them for in-game Gold. This ends up costing a total of 1.5 million in-game Gold for all my Stash Tabs.
Each season I start with 8 tabs (2.3 pages) before spending any gold on them. (and I rarely ever do this anymore anyway in a season)
I have all 13 in non-season.
This.
However,
This is actually correct. The potential amount of tabs for one account is 13. Not what someone may actually have at that moment. Be it that they haven’t earned the 5 from doing Season Conqueror, or the extras from Necro. But their statement was not wrong.
If someone has all the expansion tab rewards but never earned any tabs through Seasons, then they should start with 3 tabs in the beginning of a season, before spending gold. If they don’t have the extra 2 tabs from Necro, then they would start with 1 tab that season, again, if they haven’t earned any during Seasons. Base game + RoS tabs were all added with gold after the first one.
Very originally, before the expansion, stash started with two rows, and then unlocking a tab would just enable you to unlock sets of two rows.
With RoS, the first tab is unlocked, and over time they also got rid of the per-row system.
Right now when I start a season, I have 3 tabs.
As for the monetary cost, it’s actually miniscule. Might seem a lot, especially if you have memories of old times. Nowadays, while not a monsoon, gold is raining already at level 1, partly due to bounties and related high quality chests.
As a comparison, a full 280 stat gem costs about 9m gold to merge. You equip 7 of those. +3 if you are missing legendary gems somehow and +1 if you have off-hand with socket.
… Per character. The stash is per-account (and game mode).
So what was the point of quoting me? I was answering the OP’s question. Nothing in your response did that. Maybe you should try reading the entire thread before responding.
Yeah that is why I gave it a Like. This is also why Mask has TL3 like you and Boubou. He is very helpful.
My only quibble on it is that new players might not realize how to get the Season tabs. They are technically free, but you have to complete significant tasks to earn them. I would have put an * or tiny number after the “5” and then add a foot note linking to info on how to earn those 5.
