Blizzard has released a new queuing system for Season 18 and that is the main purpose of the PTR.

Make sure you test the queue properly and report any possible queuing exploit.

Unlike normal D3 which has 3 Regions, the PTR only has one. It is located in Los Angeles and has a limited capacity. When they have enough testers online it queues the rest. This is how the PTR has worked for years. It is only for testing, not for normal play so they don’t really need to ensure everyone has fast access like they do for the normal Live game.

It is not possible to test anything. High ping, rubber-banding and endless queue time.

I’m currently rank 1 Wizzard on PTR, not because I have better gears or builds - it’s because no one else can open a game

Testing builds is not possible if you are soloing because you can’t just leave a game and open a new one like you normally do.

I wonder how many people are in the PTR to give constructive feedback, which is the purpose of the PTR. Verses people who take up space on the servers and make it difficult for testers to log on, just because they just want to play. I normally do not play the PTR that much, I would rather the testers have the time.

I’ve taken part in the last four PTRs. Until this one, not once have I ever been put in a queue to start a game. The first day and a bit of the PTR were absolutely fine, without queues. Since the fault first occurred on late Friday afternoon (around 16:00 British Summer Time) I have not been able to start a game on the PTR despite having attempted to do so on multiple days, at all times of the day and night.

I can think of nothing in the 2.6.6 patch that would cause such an unprecedented level of demand on the PTR that for two days running I would be completely unable to get a game session. You’re trying to suggest that shiny bubbles on the floor, with a broken season journey and no cosmetics to earn are causing more people to want to test than the seasons that had RoRG or LoN as buffs?

I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that Nev acknowledges it as broken when she gets in on Monday, with a distinct possibility of an extension to the PTR duration so people can actually do some testing.

This problem is specific to the SC seasonal PTR. I’ve been able to log on to non season with no issues.

Seems hopscotch is more popular than we may have thought.

PTR has always been this way.
I’m used to it.

I also only play in a 3/4 man group so once one is in game we all go instantly.

Europe realm has a much smaller number of players compared to America’s.
That is most likely why you have no problem.

There is no EU PTR. There is only one for everyone in the world. It is in LA California. That means it does get crowded and that people from far away have lag.

It is the folks in the US who usually get better conditions because we are closer to the PTR server.

for me is usually 30 seconds

Currently on PTR…
Non-seasonal, hardcore - 30 second wait announced, started in less
Non-seasonal, softcore - 30 second wait announced, started in less
Seasonal, hardcore - 30 second wait announced, started in less
Seasonal, softcore - 1 hour wait announced, gave up

I’d be amazed if this is actually due to demand rather than a fault. It’s currently Sunday 23:55 in London, Monday 08:55 in Sydney and Sunday 15:55 in Los Angeles. So, it’s the middle of the night for Europe, the start of a weekday morning in Australia and Sunday afternoon for the US. That doesn’t seem like a time slot where 1+ hour queues should be apparent for a single game mode.

From: Colorado, USA, PTR 32 minutes. :-1:

For me:

  • The first day was estimated Queue = 6 minutes, but let me in within a few seconds.
  • The second day was estimated Queue = 32 minutes. Quit after waiting ~40 minutes.
  • Third day was estimated Queue = 54 minutes. Quit after waiting ~20 minutes.
  • Today was estimated Queue = 1 hour and 14 minutes. Quit immediately.

I was playing a newly created Seasonal Demon Hunter. Currently Level 63. I created a Level 1 Seasonal Wizard alternate that I haven’t been able to log in with yet.

Going to test now, creating a new non-Seasonal Demon Hunter. If I can get in I’ll create a non-Seasonal Wizard alternate.

Addendum

Okay. Got in immediately after creating my new non-Seasonal Demon Hunter. I first deleted all my current Characters. No PTR Copy.

Interesting. My Level 1 Demon Hunter has 1260 Paragon Points at Level 1. She also has a full Stash full of gear and currency (Gems, LGems, etc.) Must be left over from the last PTR. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Also have Kanai’s Cube and fully trained Artisans.

Thank you for the testing Meteor. I know that Seasonal SC is going to be most popular, so maybe it is that, but totally worth Blizz double checking if it is a bug with the buff or just demand.

You already did the PTR copy which is why you had your Paragon levels and such  Deleting your current ones does not change that. It does not reset between PTR copies unless they wipe the PTR.

Also thank you as well for posting your experiences with queues! More data is better in all situations.

I can try bringing this to Nev’s attention tomorrow, although she tends to read so likely already knows :eyes:

A Day-One Asian player here.

If you are Day-One player of D3 classic and/or RoS, 20 min is not a long time lol.

BTW, PTR capacity is low, if there is some interesting content/s, it may over-loaded. This is NOT the first time that needed to be waited in PTR

Usually the first two days are most crowded. But this time, the queue accumulated over time.
Something abnormal, IMO.

Note that the season journey (and achievement) isn’t working. Maybe it relates to the issue.

Interestingly, the non-seasonal queue is unaffected. I didn’t know that season and non-season have different queues before.

Me too .

Because server resources divided to Normal and Seasonal games at fixed ratio ???

It’s currently…
07:30 Monday in London
17:30 Monday in Sydney
23:30 Sunday in Los Angeles
Tried creating a softcore, non-seasonal game… straight in.
