IN all of D3 characters can transport to where ever another character is. except the GRs bakit or why is that? what is the difference in transporting in Neph rifts and Greater ones.? If using a weaker player in d3 it is hard enough to keep up , but if ever need to go back to town to heal or repair cant make it back to the front runners. and in some cases they just take of on a speed run to get as far as they can, that is ok in neph rifts can always catch up or even go oooffff track to hunt separately and catch up later but not in grs . what is the reason for this ? Also why do they prohibit changing any gear while in the gr itself?
Years ago there were some tricks that could be performed by party members to get a huge benefit in groups that did GRs. Some of them were in season play. Can’t remember the details. Some of it could be players going out in the open world and aquire certain bonuses that could then be used back in the greater rift. It could also be changing gear and setup and changing paragon points while doing a GR. Single players could also take advantage of buffs earned and stacked in the open world and then carry them into a GR. These kinds of exploits were then eliminated by the developers.
Not sure if this covers everything but at least it covers some.
You cannot teleport to a teammate while a Greater Rift is active. This prevents players from skipping the dungeon’s challenge. Teleporting to your party members is only allowed after the Rift Guardian is defeated and the Greater Rift is officially completed.
Once you enter a Greater Rift you cannot change gear or Skills. Only Paragon Points. (Just like the Challenge Rifts).
It has been this way for a long time. (I won’t say “always” because of some things pointed out by @Jazz above).
i noticed in D3 some of the people wait until the finish and transport to the goods, but many get booted for that.
You probably don’t want to do that when playing with strangers.
They learned to prohibit changing skills as one can change skills to support defense or offense easily with software.
Also changing gear that is in your back pack could benefit you for different circumstances.
GR’s are all about competition so it is heavily policed too.
