Question: Are all D3 chars in canon?

So exist in the lore? Or just for the fans? Like a “gender” skin? And thus irrelevant for the lore? In HotS there is only one gender or char per class.

Does it matter? Gameplay and lore is rarely in sync, and of the two gameplay is by far the more important.

Yes.

Within the confines of the D3 universe.

It is important.
I don’t want to waste my time on a “skin”.
The chars have names and faces, if that’s not enough, then what?

Just let the lady barb runaround with no armor and a battle axe and call her Billy Bob.

It wouldn’t work. :upside_down_face:

Your 20

It’s a game you play for enjoyment, it’s the definition of “wasting time” regardless.

We’re talking about the lore and no.

I have no idea what you are asking do you want to know what the back story is for every class?

It’s in the question. Are all chars in canon?

Assuming that I understand your question. Most of the Diablo 3 classes have a canon character. Diablo 3 just allows players to create a male or female variant of said class.

For example, the Wizard’s canon name is Li-Ming, a female wizard who was trained by the Diablo 2 Sorceress Isendra.

Wizard = Li-Ming, a female Wizard

Demon Hunter = Valla, a female Demon Hunter

Monk = Kharazim, a male Monk (not actually confirmed as far as I know of, but based on HoTS)

Barbarian = Sonya, a female Barbarian (not actually confirmed as far as I know of, but based on HoTS)

Witch Doctor = Nazeebo, a male Witch Doctor (not actually confirmed as far as I know of, but based on HoTS)

Crusader = Johanna, a female Crusader

The Diablo 3 Necromancer is the only one who hasn’t been given a canonical name (as far as I know of), but based on the comic, the Necromancer is a young female.

Oblivion will educate you on the lore. Did you listen to the lore when you played the game? Did you run the side quests for the followers and Shen for the back story on them.

Was Ordan the master on the necromancer in D3? Was Xul the D2 necromancer?

They have names and faces, but are only one gender variant?
In D1 and 2 they are all in canon. D4 sounds like that too.

Well Diablo 1 and 2 only allowed one gender for players to play (for example no female warrior in Diablo 1 or male assassin in Diablo 2), unlike Diablo 3 which allowed for both genders. Diablo 4 will also allow players to choose their classes gender, so if there are any canon representatives, it’ll likely follow Diablo 3 route, where only one gender is canonically represented.

Correct. Ordan was the master of the Diablo 3 Necromancer, while Xul was the master of Mehtan (whom we met and assisted in D3), and Lethes (according to Diablo Immortals).

Yes, I finished the game.

Finishing the game is not the same as doing everything in the game, many players just blow past things. Did you run all of the follower and Shen side quests? Did you open all of the lore books? Did you listen to the back stories on the classes? If you did you should know who they are and why they are doing what the do.

D4 takes place decades after the events of D3 so they should have a lot of lore and back stories to tell.

I didn’t find anything from Blizzard, only that the classes are in canon. Nothing about genders. The developers said the classes are not based on gender.

I have almost everything.

Do you want your male barb to really be a Kaitlin Jenner? Is that what you are getting at?

2 chars? Why not? D4 will have many chars per class.
