I ran 4 GR 20s to check the last box of the seasonal journey chapter 4 and didn’t get a single pylon spawn in any of them. I can’t complete GR 20 within the time limit with my current gear, but with the shadow clones from pylons basically one-shotting everything it should be a breeze. Two friends also playing DH with similar gear did their GR 20s to finish the seasonal journey at the same time, got pylons in their first runs, and completed them easily.
I checked every inch of every floor of all 4 of those rifts to double check. No pylons.

Pylons spawn from rift progress, so if you don’t kill anything, they will never spawn. This is not a bug.

Yup me too, I was doing gr58, and had 1 pylon 8 floors, next try 1 pylon 9 floors, then 4x 0 pylon 7-9 floors. They seem to spawn in normal rifts tho.
Pylons spawn from monster kills (Rift Progression). If you just run through the rift and don’t kill anything then pylons will not spawn.
This is not a bug.

Oh. I did not know that was how it worked. I thought pylons were guaranteed in GRs every few floors or something. Oh well. I ended up getting some gear I needed and was able to kill things without needing the pylons anyway. Thanks!
Ok, but sometimes I get a pylon right away, even when Ivent killed any mob in GR.
Sometimes you get 15-20% progression at the door, so a pylon will spawn right away.
Run a few test GRs where you do not kill anything. Then run some more where you complete the GR. Record the results, and then post back with your results.
Or, as an alternative, do some research on pylon spawning. Youtube is your friend.
You are only noticing their behavior because they are important to you now. They have not changed.
its possible you have the progress to spawn a pylon but you didn’t look on the entire map, may have just missed it…
I thought I was tripping out because I did a solo 115, finished it in time, with no pylon…not sure how I missed any
There is a little chance to get a 0% pylon.
Then you missed the point of my post.
If pylons spawn from progression, then you should be able to run through a GR and see no pylons if you do not kill anything.
If Pylons are NOT tied to progression, then you should be able to see them all through the GR even if you do not kill anything.
So yes, there should be about 0% chance of you seeing NO pylons if they are not tied to progression. Since you are not killing anything, and just searching for pylons, then that should show you that they ARE indeed tied to progression.
Go test it for yourself, or do some research on Pylon spawning.

But I agree with what you wrote:
The more progress you have, the higher the chance to get a pylon spawning.
