Ps4 leaderboards

Hey blizzard there are a bunch of cheaters and gear modders sitting on top of the PS4 leader boards every season. Can you fix this please?? Feels bad to be ranked 75 when ur really in the top 10

Even if Blizzard nuked all the current cheaters off from the LBs, they can do very little to stop them. As it has been said many times already, Playstation save encryption keys have been cracked and that exposes the platform to uncontrolled cheating.

At most Blizzard could add some sanity checks but that’s about it. There’s little else that can be done with a fully exposed platform.

Well, D4 is going to be online only with server stored saves on all platforms. That’s a prerequisite for having crossplay and crossprogression.

D3 on the other hand is pretty much lost cause when it comes to fighting cheaters on consoles. On PC Blizzard can at least ban people. On consoles they can’t. They can purge them from the leaderboards but they can’t stop really them from playing nor cheating again.

Not all consoles… X-Box, baby!!!

there are no cheats on xbox?

The Xbox doesn’t allow USB saves, which is how the PS4 is being broken. Microsoft learned from the Xbox 360 that this only leads to cheating. All the saves are backed up to the cloud.

Now, technically, it would be possible to cheat by jailbreaking the system, but that hasn’t been done yet, and there’s the added complication of it would probably get your console banned.

What he said! I really love being able to storm the Leaderboards, even if only with niche builds because I lack talent/patience to do it with meta-builds. I play on Switch a lot these days, and I miss the cheat-free leaderboards a lot.

This is going to sound bad, but cheaters seem to be the future. Either that or they’re so rampant and there is just not enough staff to do anything about it.

How long were people botting in Diablo 2 so they could have top spots on the ladder? Years. They were even congratulated on their “hard work” lol.

There’s no way you can stop botting, and it’s going to be worse in the future. As real time image recognition becomes more feasible, a player could have a completely separate machine which just analyzes the screen and sends input to a usb to fake gamepad or keyboard/mouse. Absolutely nothing can be done in that situation other than analyzing gameplay to make sure the play isn’t “too perfect”. For example, when you move a mouse across a computer screen in a straight line, it actually isn’t straight. It’s more of an arc. Cheating tools already account for stuff like that though, and tend to put in slight deviations to throw off cheat detections.

But you’ll then get people who claim false positives. And there’s nothing you’ll have that can be proof positive. This then will lead into how good is too good?

About the best you can do is mitigate the damage. And honestly, one of the things people hate most about Diablo Immortal is one of the things that can, and should be done. That is, time gating. That’s about the only thing you can do. Make it so that botting is less efficient. You wouldn’t bot in a real situation, because botting already is less efficient than a player, when they’re playing. But almost anything is more efficient than not playing.

Yeah, I know you can’t stop it, which is why I quit playing a former MMO and playing on D2 ladder. You just can’t compete with it. It’s like people bringing guns to knife fights and being congratulated on a “job well done” while you’re still brushing up on your knife skills.

Botting is the future. People can stay on par with people who sink their life into a game all the while actually going out and enjoying it. Seems like a win, win to me. From a mental health stand point, I guarantee those people who are botting are probably better off than grinding those hours. Sitting in front of a pc for 14+ hours a day isn’t healthy. Now, I wish botting wasn’t here, but it is and if it can help people live healthy lives at the same time I’m for it. If I was going to bot, I think I would let it run keys/bounties. Unless we get a some firm way to stop it, its going to be the norm as you said.

I read some utter nonsense here… The Leaderboards are NOT just for no-lifers… I got to the top on X-Box playing only two hours a day… You don’t have to grind whole days to get there: I’m at best a mediocre player, and I got in the top 10 last season, even holding the top-sot for a few weeks… No botting, no cheating, no group-play, no 10+ hour grinding…

This is just admitting defeat: it SHOULD be possible to keep cheaters out: X-Box does it, why can’t others?

It’s a little harder to keep cheating out than it seems. Cheating and stopping cheating has always been an arms race. With something like the Switch, that ended up being a hardware exploit, that short of replacing everyone’s Switch, it’s impossible for Nintendo to correct. All it takes is one engineer to not see one potential exploit, and that’s incredibly common, as no one is perfect. It doesn’t matter if it’s Mac, Linux, Windows, PC, console, whatever. All of them have massive exploits. It’s just that many are just not publicly known at the time.

The bottom line is the more control you give players, the more cheating can and will happen. That’s why a lot of games are going online, where the game is really more of a client or dumb terminal. It’s less access that the player has, and the possibility for exploits to be found.

Certainly you can. EN make it way easier for people who don’t play as much as others be competitive because of the amount of time not having to grind for augments. Hell, Witch Doctor or Crusader are pretty easy to get into top10. Not many people are even playing those to begin with. And you can easily get the top spot for the non top builds since most people don’t play those on console. Keep in mind that majority of players (I estimate 90% or more) stop playing long before the end of a season. PC is different story. You wouldn’t be anywhere close to the top 10 on PC. Maybe top 100.

Strangely Witch Doctor on the PC is one of the highest clearing HC classes (only the Barb & DH are higher), yet in SC, only the Crusader is worse.

Check Xbox leaderboards.

Can’t right now (on vacation, playing Switch) but what happened? X-Box get hacked?

No. Behind time is talking about PC leaderboards in regards to WD and Crusader but I was clearly referring to console leaders boards. It is extremely easy to get into the top 10 on HC for most of the solo boards.

I have no earthly idea what this is supposed to mean? Are we talking Diablo 3 here, or did you order the special Kool-Aid?
