I have a new account with only 3 seasons char. Now trying to copy char into PTR and all the season char are converted to non-season upon transfer. At this point I am unable to play in PTR using my seasonal char. Am I missing a step with the transfer of char? I did make a seasonal char level 1 before doing the copy process.
Your Live characters are in Season 24. The PTR is ahead in time - so Season 24 is over. If you want to play the Season on PTR you need to start a new char.
There is a large XP buff and drop buff to help you out. You can also spend blood shards at the giant goat man for full sets of gear when you hit 70.

Also of note is that regardless of your prior seasonal characters, to benefit from the theme in PTR, you will ALWAYS need to create a fresh seasonal character. Like MissCheetah mentioned, you will be ahead in time so unless you just want to test non theme items and such, you’ll need a seasonal.
PS - any gear you copy will not be updated if there was a patch update. For example, copies of the Arachyr set will not have the updated build so you’d need to re-acquire.
