There was discussion going on in General Chat and people were saying that this was the last season. I could not find any confirmation at all, but it did bum me out enough I was hoping there was word one way or the other.
Anyone heard anything like this that was legit?
We haven’t had a D3 update since before Blizzcon. I would expect them to support the game until D2R is released, at least. Time is slipping away on the D3 hourglass.
Many players would switch to D2R.
Unless Blizzard says it it is just a rumor. Or we can just ask Rhykker.

I doubt it. They still have seasons in Diablo II such as they are.
But I also heard if we keep playing we will all get a brand new red Diablo themed Ferrari Portofino.
At worse they’d start recycling season themes.
There is no way it is the last season. It will keep going until at least close to D4 launch - and likely much longer, like in D2.
Now, patch changes might end soon’ish. But also very unlikely it happens very soon. I’d bet at least another year of patches.
D4 is next obviously so it’s a waiting game. I mean i have legit played almost every game in some sort. If D4, Starfield/Elderscrolls, Star Citizen or even Obsidian don’t perform then say goodbye to this side of gaming. I mean there are so many games is besides the limit. I have played WoW and Diablo games… so what. Yes that’s about all Blizzard games i have played. But in Diablo i have played all. If people aren’t grateful for a D2 remake (and that’s what it is) or a series in-between D2 and D3 (D;I) then shame on them for saying anything about D4. It is next.
“people were saying” is usually a bad thing to take as truth.
Blizzard has been making new Guardian art assets, just made major Follower changes, and continues to do Item changes. They still do Ladder resets for Diablo 2 21 years later.
Safe to say D3 will be fine for quite some time. I don’t expect an expansion or anything, but it is not going away.
What just because some people cry because there is no season theme. It is like when even the changes that are best for the game and liked by a lot of players those ones are still unhappy.
I think the rumor started because there was no season theme this time around. Or even an announcement to use a previous theme. Seasons have lasted without them or season specific items or even stash tabs for many seasons before season themes even started.
Short answer probably not for many years and maybe even decades. Because players can still play this game as a break from D2R and D4 when the newness wears off.
The players switching to DR2 left when D3 was released. I very much doubt D2R is going to effect D3 numbers
I already finished the season if D2R was out I would be playing that right now until the next season.
I see that several of the D3 players from this forum are also on the D2R forum now.
When D4 is out I will moving on from D3 and D2R. I will leave D:I for others with good

Most likely those people meant this season was going to be the last one for them personally before moving on from D3. Especially with D2R aimed to be released this year.
However until Blizzard explicitly states otherwise, the D3 seasons will go on for quite some time.
Yeah was thinking the same. I’m assuming when they stop making “new” seasons. they would just start rotating/recycle old seasons for those who chooses to stay and play the game.
Havent personally heard anything about S23 being the “last season” though. I’m reading this first here.
I’m more worried about tourists dropping rocks onto the Earth from the Moon. A Congressional candidate told me that could happen.
If we go by what those guys say, none if them play D3, so there should be no impact.
