Hi y’all,
I’m still dreaming of a Wizard that uses mostly Signature skills. I do not care if it’s a META build, I just want it to be as strong as possible. Trying to figure that out, I run into loads of considerations I find myself unable to get a definitive answer to. I hope some people around here will be able to help me out.
Depth Diggers: When do these actually work? Noy just concerning Wizards, but on a whole? Do they benefit ONLY primary skills, or any generator? They don’t work on wizards even when you use Shame of Desire (which turns Signatures in Generators, right? But they do work on Witchdoctors selecting the propper rune… So… When do they work, and when don’t they?
Simplicity’s Strength: Same as above: when DO they work? I can’t seem to get that clear anywhere…
Focus/Restraint: On a Barb, they will function when using any skill that generates Fury. On a monk, they don’t work when using Blinding Flash to restore Spirit (rune). Do they work with provoke? Do they work a a WD or Wizard when geared or runed to generate resource?
I’ve done the websearches, but I can’t get this clear 100% anywhere…
The wording on the legendary powers and set bonuses are very clear.
Depth Diggers: The damage buff is applied to primary skills only. Doesn’t matter whether it genereates resource or not. It used to require resource generation but this was changed, the resource generation is no longer required.
Simplicity’s Strength: The damage buff is applied to primary skills only.
Focus&Restraint: Primary skills and any other resource generating skill procs the first set bonus.
And I would assume it to be that simple, but then I don’t get why certain things work or don’t work. Take the WD: The Arach Corpse Spider build and the Poison Dart Build use Depth Diggers AND Simplicity, but both shouldn’t work as Corpse Spders and Poison Darts are not Primaries. And the Blinding Flash rune that makes it generate spirit does not work with Bastions of Will. These things are still unclear to me.
Yes, they are.
This could be a genuine bug. If you hit an enemy to generate resource, it should proc the F&R bonus.
The set bonus says:
When you hit with a resource-generating attack or primary skill, deal 50% increased damage for 5 seconds.
Note that you have to hit something, not enough to use the skill.
They’re primaries? Is that something that changed recently? I somehow have it in my head that they aren’t or weren’t. You had te select the propper rune to make them work or something like that… Okay, thanks for clearing this up for me! With that out of the way things are certainly a lot clearer.
Like I said, those skills previously had use the generator rune because Depth Diggers used explicitly buff generating primaries only. Now Depth Diggers buff all primaries, whether they generate resource or not. That’s why Darts builds can now use any rune.
Build guides made by pro theorycrafters wouldn’t recommend Depth Diggers and/or Simplicity’s Strength if they didn’t provide any help.
Sure, I just somehow missed the fact where they can now use ANY primary skill, it may be time for me to start to fiddle around with Darts, see what I like most.
Pity that the Wizard basics still aren’t “primaries”… Oh well…
Yet are buffed by Depth Diggers and Simplicity’s Strength. So they are primaries.
LoD Magic Missile will one really fast speed build for wizard in S27. Not for pushing but something GR100s should be breeze.
Okay, now I’m going completely nuts! You mean to say that I have been wrong all these years? Talk about an idiot!!! Okay, I’m going to build me one of these STAT!!! Oh, JOY!!!
