Primal Gear Drop Rate

So i am no spring chicken when it comes to diablo 3, i still remember its release on XBOX 360. While i grant you i have only really just come into the seasons side of things, i can’t help but feel (after completing the season challenges) at least.

That primal drops are way to rare and random, with that said i did my solo 70 GR in return my random promised primal that was given was blackthorne’s jousting pants. Being as it was my first and only primal (at that time), and given the fact i ONLY play seasonal that was a super big kick in the balls.

After that i got a irontoe mudsputters, then i got a an Etrayu and then a Grand Vizier followed by the The Shadow Heels. Which currently are my only usable primal item given. The others i can’t even google a build, that uses any of the above. And if it does they are not higher tier GR pushers.

TBH with as much as i play, i feel slightly cheated i won’t lie.

Primal are Vanity items. They don’t give a significant benefit over a well-rolled ancient. And if you only play season, your gear doesn’t matter since you would be throwing all of it away once season ends.

I mean yes i agree to some degree, but in essence assuming you got the best possible roll for each primal it would indeed vastly outdo an A.L roll. Which was the point i was trying to make about the scarceness / rarity of said items. I think its way to low a drop for the grind you put in imo.

No it won’t. Both have the same max values, so a well-rolled Ancient will be about as good as a primal.

Let’s use the gloves I have on my Marauder DH as an example…

If her current gloves had exactly the same affixes, but were primal rather than ancient, she would gain 11 DEX, as the AS, CHD, CHC and Elemental Resistance are already rolled at the maximum of their affix ranges. That’s a tiny difference.

Nevermind i lied i got 999 dex on my accursed visage helm for my multi shot :open_mouth:

A lot of people disagree, but in the early days of primals when they were testing them, I preferred the damage boosts that were different to the ancients. The perfect stats are theoretically better, but as Meteorblade said with his DH gloves which is pretty close to a perfect roll , and Timberwolf said, an ancient will often give a better roll due to only being able to change one statistic.

If you look on the leaderboards, there are people using standard non-ancient legendary’s, because they gave them the best roll of stats at the time (FoT is a good example).
