Do Primal Ancients still show red beam on drop? Or do you have to identify them first?
Yes, they do on drop.
They also still show the red pentagram on the mini-Map. (If they don’t get buried under all the gold stars).
And after you pick them up, they have a distinct red border in your inventory even when unidentified (though you need to mouse over them first to clear the “new item” highlight).
Also primals have a more structured background, so you can see it’s a primal even before you mouse-overed to clear the new-item border, although it’s a bit more subtle.
On a related note, I chose to believe that the red border in itself increases your clear potential by exactly 1 GR, on top of any other stat upgrades it may give.
Didn’t the patch that to always put primals on top? Or am I imagining things?
I’ve been farming Visions tonight. I picked up 2 Primal items and didn’t even know it until they were in my Inventory.
I didn’t see the red beams because my (Demon Hunter) Skills, monster Affixes and Clone Skills made it difficult to see them, mixed in with all the gold beams and other red effects. And, because I was running T16 Visions, all I saw on the mini-Map was gold stars.
I also don’t remember any official statement in any of the Patch Notes that said this had changed.
