Primal Ancient Droprates

Hello!

I have some questions regarding droprates of the primal items.

i have been grinding rifts, greater rifts (tier 94), blood shards, horadric caches for ages now (last 250 hours of playing), but i havnt gotten a single Primal item.

How am I supposed to get hold of them? How am I supposed to further advance when all my items slots are maxed out?

I can grind for better gems ofc, but that is very hard since the chance to upgrade them are 60%…

Primals have about 0.25% chance to drop. It is a very low chance.

Don’t be obsessed about them. They’re nothing but regular ancients with maxed affixes. A normal ancient or even a basic legendary can be a better option than a primal, it really depends on the affixes. A primal with bad affixes, even if it otherwise is the desired item, is junk.

Sigh ok.

So all I can do is grind for higher paragon lvl?

You can also craft using recipes 2 and 3. At least half of my primals come from crafting. Rarely I get one from shards.
Rings are a good craft for recipe 3 as there are several positive outcomes. (Karleis point of course is the best.
Recipe 2 targets what you need,. While it can be frustrating, every now and then you get a primal. Most of my weapon primals come from recipe 2.

Well, kadala has given me about 3 final whiteness primal shields and just the other day, gave me two primal seeker of the light set helms which I don’t use any of it.

I always gamble for things that cost 25, use the cube to upgrade rare weapons/rings/amulets, and of course reforged legendaries.

Another trick for better gear grinding is not to do 90+ Grifts unless you can do them in around 3 min. A lot of people do speed Grifts on 75-85. More runs for per hour = more legendaries per hour which translates to more ancient and primal per hour.

RNG is just a Slot machine, I have many days getting two primals, some with one, and also had three days in a row of no primals.

Keep doing it.
I’ve been doing speed 95s to upgrade my gems to 90 before going higher.
They can drop anywhere, but more legendary you farm higher the chance to get them. Primals I’ve got in Season 18 so far.

Probably going to be scraping most of them for souls though.

Diablo III has primary ancient items or you need to go 1000 Greater Rifts to drop a bad item

When they nerfed the initial Primals, I lost all interest in farming for them. They are just glorified Ancients. The initial design of them was far superior to what we have now, and I really wish they would revert those changes and bring back the initial design of them. Of course a change of this nature would definitely not be retroactive, so that everyone would have to earn the new “relived” versions of Primals

I know your post was a while back but I figured I would respond. If the rate is 0.25% then given that I have farmed at least 1500 legendary’s on teir 70-83 Gfifts and T15-16 normals. So by that math I should have gotten 37.5 right? I have looted TWO.

1500 * 0.25% = 3.75
Not 37.5

As Maskraider above said, the average expectation for every 1500 legendaries is 3.75 primals. Note that is average expectation, meaning it can vary significantly.

2 primals out of 1500 legendaries is not that far off and still well within the margin of error. Because the chance of getting a primal is so small, you’ll need a huge sample size to draw any meaningful conclusion, 1500 drops is still too small.

I’m closer to the 3000 mark and haven’t gotten any yet (only the guaranteed one from finishing a GR70) yet my mate who I’ve been partied with pretty much the whole time has gotten 4. Not to mention I haven’t had a single upgrade in the last 16 hours game time. Kinda killed the season for me, just gonna do the journey and call it quits.

I see this thread gets brought up every now and again.

For season 20, I am at 26 useless primals.

regular rifts better

Haven’t seen a primal in months. For something that doesn’t make much difference and is so often useless the drop rate is absurdly low.

I’m at Paragon 1262 and 19 Primals I think. The only useful ones for my current build are Nemesis Bracers for my T16 set and Thunderfury for my follower. Nothing super exciting. Went about a week and a half with no upgrades whatsoever, then 3 in the past 24 hrs.

ONce again I got a crappy primal… Haunt of VEXO …ooo not shiny.

Still think u are so unlucky ? )))

Sorry to be skeptical, but I always think ‘b.crap’ when I hear this kind of statement. I always think those players delete/remove unfavorable outcomes to claim how preposterous what they’re experiencing is. Like, because the ancients they got was underwhelming, they’re not gonna use it, they simply don’t count them as ‘ancient drop’.

Not gonna be the first time a person, shrouded by their perception, end up framing a false narrative, intentionally or unintentionally, with mal-intent or without. Unless I specifically see a vid of them having such a consecutive bad luck, I really can’t believe one could not get even one ancient after that much reroll/reforge.

If they are seriously genuine, yes, I do believe there is something wrong with how the system works. But until I see proof, I’ll remain skeptical.

Primals are pretty much just there to make no lifers feel special. You’ve pretty much beat the game when you have full ancient. Don’t even worry about no lifer rewards.
