Why does my potion keep falling on the floor and off my hotbar? Is it something I’m doing? Is it a bug? Is there a fix?
You likely are just accidentally dragging it off the bar during gameplay when you aim at something near the bottom of the screen. You’re not the first one to encounter this issue.
People have been asking for a very long time for the potion part of the UI to be locked at least in GRs like everything else in the inventory and skills. Hasn’t been done yet.

This happens to me all the time. It is when we move our mouse over the potion in the tool bar we dislodge it as it is not locked in. I have lost a good number of potions because of this. I wish that Blizzard would lock the potions in when doing a GR or Rift.
Never had this problem. On console, it gets locked to L1. The only way to drop it is to access inventory and, on PS anyway, hit △ with it selected.
Happens to me at times. Blizzard need to fix this.
It also happens to me often, i guess the real question here to ask, why can the potion fall on floor in GR, where you shouldt be able to change gear? and futhermore, if you can take it off, why cant you put it on again?

Of course it should or could be fixed but it doesn’t just “happen” out of thin air. It’s caused by the player and therefore it is avoidable.

Whilst it happens as a result of the player accidentally clicking / dragging the potion due to having the mouse near the bottom edge of the screen it should not even be possible for this to happen because we’re not supposed to be able to change equipped items / abilities during a GR.
Players shouldn’t be blamed for accidentally clicking on something that should be locked during a GR so that it can’t be clicked on. They lock everything else, why not this?

It’s occur if you press potion by mouse. Learn to use hotkey for it.

The issue is that you can accidentally drag it of while just playing, specifically in greater rifts where you can’t reequip it. I doubt there are many that actually use the mouse to use the potion as a norm.

Actually use Q for this as hotkey, never use mouse. in the middle of a fight you find yourself suddently dropping the potion. this can be a combination of keystrokes, but read up this should not be happening as you should not be able to change any gear in Grs.
Again, it’s not so much that people are clicking the mouse to use their potion. It’s that the potion isn’t locked in place and during combat, with mouse moving around, clicking, etc. in the heat of battle it is possible to accidentally click it and drag it out w/o meaning to. 99% of players know to hit a hotkey to use the potion. Players have been requesting Blizz do something about locking it in place for years, but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

Absolutely agreee here, spot on!
In a big fight i can do all kinds of stuff. Dismiss followers on accident, butt dial random ppl in chat with msgs looking like a cat walked across my keyboard, etc.
I havent really deep looked but it would be a nice idea if you could lock the GUI

I agree with Meteorblade, Kargon and Nefertiri here. This should not be able to happen. GR stuff is locked, and should not be accidentally removable.
I have to believe some change or fix that happened at some point recently (by recent, maybe sometime in the last year), as I do not recall this being an issue previously. Some stray piece of code has allowed that one item to be removed from it’s slot.
It is mostly just annoying, but still, it should be fixed. It is a bug.
This Bug is not recent. I recall seeing it reported several Patches ago.
It looks like the first report was in August 2019.
I guess recent in my perception of time and maybe I only noticed it within the last year. haha.
