People can go in and hoover up unwanted loot all day in old Diablo II. You can make a game with friends and a PW so strays can’t just pop in at will and take your good rolls.
Let’s be honest. At the end of each act you will be carried along by someone higher level doing Baal runs for free levels. Mashing your mouse button to get lucky on a pick up is not skillful or somehow more rewarding.
This whole idea that FFA loot is somehow better when we all know how this ends up at the endgame of each act is ridiculous.
I am not trying to change your mind.
I am saying, it does not affect you. So why do you want to impact our playstyle?
Do i tell you what hotkeys to use? What character name to take? What class to pick? What skills to use and on which monster? No, i dont care how you play as long as you dont affect me. And even if you affect me (e.g. PKing), it is fine in most cases.
But i do not want to play the loot-grabbing game every game. Others share that view. We want to make our own little game and focus on gameplay over loot-grabbing. Same as if we would all use holy-bolt paladins or fendzons. Silly playstyles that do not affect you.
Yes, you can tell us it is inefficient, we should go play hammadin with enigma, but we still wanna play that other way.
As long as we do not affect you, let us.
This isn’t QoL. Personal loot is a redesign of the way loot works. QoL means Quality of Life, not “Different Game Design”.
QoL: Auto gold pickup. Better graphics, Advanced Stats in the Character screen, Shared Stash (to counter mules).
Game design: No personal loot. Skill Tree Synergies. Character Classes. Items.
You know what else Personal Loot means? No trading. Soulbound items. etc. etc. People just randomly throw PERSONAL LOOT! around like it has no impact on the rest of the game. It does. And we don’t want it.
that’s not personal loot at all, that’s bound loot personal loot is just loot that only you can pick up it’s still not bound you can still trade it and it adds no extra loot into the game if you balance the drop rates properly
Again, your idea here changes the game. If I want to solo tele sorc Baal Runs, you’re telling me I’ll only be getting 1 item instead of the usual 5-6 because of PerSonAL LoOT?
no the games would drop the same amount of loot you would get 5-6 items solo if you had a full party more items would drop but it would be divided among the party because you get more drops in fuller games but the overall drop amounts would be the same
The game is re-MASTERED… not re-MADE or re-BOOTED. The objective was to reintroduce the game to those that had only heard of it and not played the original DII, and to bring some old-school happiness back to those of us that have played D, DII, and DIII. The Devs themselves have stated time and again that they are not interested in CHANGING how the game is played or other material aspects, but in improving the resolution, the graphics, frame rates, et cetera…
Let them do things the way they intended. I hated the pks that haunted the outskirts of towns to kill other players for their equips, but, that was all part and parcel of the game. If you don’t want others to benefit from your efforts, then make a private game; really simple. Otherwise STOP CRYING. Global loot was a part of the original incarnation of DII. If the game is too hard for you, then perhaps you should try a different game. You are trying a game that is over 20 years old now, with enhanced graphics and still running on the same game engine. WELCOME TO THE ORIGINAL DIABLO II. Don’t complain about something that has been tried and true for the last 20+ years just because you find it to be too hard. If it was that hard, it would not have been the monster game that it has become because of the people playing it for all that time. I play DIII… and STILL play the original Diablo and the ORIGINAL incarnation of DII. I started with Diablo when it first came out. I spent over $500.00 dollars building a brand new computer to play (and beta stress test) DII on its announcement and release. The point of this is that others just like me who may not have had the opportunity to beta the game (or build a computer just for the game) still came in at the beginning and STILL play the original. If you want to play the game, then play the game, not some nerfed, second rate remake which is what would be made if all the game-play changes and loot changes being suggested were incorporated into the game.
Again, you want to play DII? THEN PLAY DII, which is what this game is underneath the nice, new, coat of paint the Devs have put on it. I can only thank the Devs for being so faithful to the original, and NOT changing things substantially. The game would not be DII then.
Maybe personal loot in some games also is combined with soulbound items.
It is not inherrently part of that concept. No idea why you would assume that.
Luckily they do not have to.
Also there are almost no kids here. Mostly your generation. So no need to condecending.
No, but they are making changes. Its Diablo 2 Resurected, it is resurected from the death, with many changes and improved gameplay. Added better resolutions, new graphics, new stash, new gold system, probably pLoot soon aswell and many other things.
The devs have said that they will be hearing to the comunity demands and do changes according.
Adding pLoot as an option is very necesary and I would bet it is gona be added to the game soon.
We could play both loot system, choosing the one we prefer so everyone is happy. There is 0 reasons for not adding pLoot when you can always play with the current loot system.
the games aspect ratio has changed the loot mechanics have already changed, auto gold and larger + shared stash, chat functionality, they have removed some of the old quirk such as the ebug armor. On top of that i hope they change things like how rampant bots, hacks and dupes are in the remaster that would suck if it stayed the same as d2 but is also probably the most significant change they can make to the entire game so maybe you are advocating for them to stay idk. All i can say for sure is their is no single definition for the term remaster so using that term to define what they can and can’t do is pointless.
