Please let everyone post on D2R forums

It’s really sketchy to require players to pre-order a game with no release date in order to start discussions in the forums.

I pre ordered and still can’t post there…

I also pre-ordered and can’t post. Sooo I tried to put in a ticket thinking I chose the wrong option (3 purchase options) but it would only let me put the ticket through as a request for refund. Now I don’t know if they’ll actually address the ticket or just automatically refund it. The purchase shows in my transaction history but the game is not listed in my games & subs nor am I able to post on the forums.

Yeah, It’s not listed under my games either but it’s on my order history as complete.

EDIT: Letting me post now… just took awhile to register.

Because troll-fest is so fun?

It isn’t sketchy, it’s how they maintain properly player cadence on the respective fora. You need a license to post on their modern game fora. Only the Classic Games forum subsection doesn’t require that AFAIK. The pre-order establishes that license on your account and thus you are able to post.

D2:R was announced yesterday and has new forums which you need a license to post on.

D4 was announced 15 months ago, doesn’t have its own forums, and people have spammed the D3 forums about it ever since.

It would be nice if they had some consistency…

Plot Twist: In Order to post on D2R Forum, you need to purchase WC3:Reforged.
So they will still be able to sell trash for cash. Next level strategy!

But I have WC3R…

I guess the reason for it was WC3 Reforged.

So I don’t really find it that exhilarating either, pushing people into some kind of blackmail here.

Is this supposed to be the future of our free world?
We are coerced into buying first and then being allowed to say something?
Here, quite obviously, a kind of division is made… what’s the point?
This is a forum for gamers and should not be abused for extortionate commercial things.

Very bad development and I hope the gamers punish this with disregard.
Whether I buy the game now, or only when it actually gives me value as a usable commodity is already significant. To attach privileges to it is already the lowest drawer and typical of this juggernaut that we have to constantly feed as our basic system and should accept.

Requiring a ticket to view a movie, enter an amusement park, or a game license to use a forum, is not “blackmail”. Companies are not required to offer goods or services for free. You need to look up the definition of Blackmail. Is Blizzard going to release damaging information about you if you don’t buy their games?

Yes. Things are not free, generally speaking.

Blizzard has required a game license, or significant progress in the free games, before you can post on their forums for YEARS. This forum you are posting on now has required a Diablo 3 license since 2012.

It prevents the forums from being flooded with bot advertising spam and of course cuts down on trolling.

I pre ordered D2R yesterday and still cannot post on the D2R forum.

As another poster already addressed, it can take a bit for the purchase flag to stick. I had to log out of the forums and log back in again then wait. Took about 20 mins. Have you logged all the way out of the forums, cleared your cache and cookies, then logged back in? If the purchase was yesterday it should have stuck.

True. But why is a D3 license not enough to post in the D3 Forum in the Channel Diablo II: Resurrected

There is no dedicated D2R Forum.

These mixing is bad.

I did what you said and it worked, I am in now.

It seems they have chosen to utilize the Diablo 3 forum space for all the Diablo games. They moved the Diablo 2 (old) forums over here too. My guess is a name change will happen at some point to change it to all Diablo.

They way the forums work they have separate permissions per individual sub forum.

  • Tech Support - no license required (I don’t think).
  • All other D3 forums - D3 License
  • Diablo 2 (2000/2001) - Original Diablo 2 License
  • D2R - Diablo 2 Resurrected license

If people want to give feedback without buying the license they can also do that via sites like reddit, etc. The CMs do keep track of feedback there as part of their job.

Yes, There is scroll all the way to the bottom of the forums list…

Nope it is a category/channel of the D3 Forum
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/c/d2r/48

If you are on the latest view you get mixed topics from the different games.
