Picking up items

I don’t know why this game assumes I want to pick up every item. I really don’t.

EDIT: this was a commentary on the way the game presents items on the ground. mostly, i was angry that sometimes your cursor can be over a certain item, but the game picks up a different item instead. i wish it was more like D2, where whatever your cursor is over, that’s the item you pick up.

Mine doesn’t pick up every item. Is there a setting for that?

My mouse can be hovering over one item, and will pick up another. My theory is that this method is used for picking up a lot of items quickly, but I’d much rather choose which items to grab instead of the game forcing my hand.

No one said you need to pick up every item.

I’m more than 100% positive you have no idea what I’m talking about.

Says someone who will necro his own OP, just to talk to himself. Does it really bug you if you want to pick up a shield and the dagger in also retrieved? This game is over 8 years old deal with it.

I guess if it bothers you that much to bring it back up for others to know…time to quit. There’s word on the diablo forum about a much better game called PoE, I’m guessing they have this frustrating item clicking thing down. The extra item I snag because of my hastiness doesn’t ruin my fun 🤷🏻.

You guys sound like you hate this game way more than I do. I’m bringing this issue up because I actually like this game.

The way items are distributed in the user interface is designed to keep you from having to run all over the map to get them all. So, they drop in a pile that is layered. You can change some of the game settings to show the item names or icons which makes it far easier to just select the item you want out of the pile.

Go to Game Menu > Settings > Gameplay Tab > HUD section (left column)

Under that check the boxes to always show labels and/or to have them show as icons instead. There is also a box there that lets you control how you turn those labels on and off. Some settings allow the labels to age out so they don’t display constantly on junk lying around. ALT is the key that toggles them by default, but you can change that in Keybindings I think.

Hopefully playing with those settings allows you to improve your ability to set up your item interface the way you prefer.

Grim Dawn allows you to ‘hide’ items so that you ‘see’ only what you are looking for. D3 or even D4 could do that as well. Example: What if I don’t want to see yellow items because they are only a 1 for 1 as far as material conversion goes, then I could turn that off and only see whites, blues, golds, greens, and reds.

There are plenty of ways to get yellow mats w/out picking up those items. No need to even pretend they exist in the game. However, in D4 I would like for them to exist. Still would be a nice option to limit what I see drop from monsters and other things that drop loot. I can really focus, talking a horse with blinders here folk, on what I am farming and just stay in the zone farm away until my farm is filled with loot.

I do not remember but in Grim Dawn does the hero still bend over to pick items up? I think I recalled seeing that. :bow_and_arrow: :crossed_swords: :shield:

My QoL wish would be for all white, blue, yellow to drop as mats not items, that is once level 70 character. Only downside would be is when power leveling and assisting new clan members.
