PezRadar on Diablo Immortal compatibility

Greetings. I recently posted in the Diablo Immortal Reddit a thread about the December 3’s Diablo Immortal Google Play update which introduced a minimum requirement – rendering many devices as “Your device is not compatible.”

In this thread, I asked other Reddit members what their mobile device’s CPU, RAM, Storage, and Android version was to determine more or less what the minimum requirements are.

Over 80 devices data were shared, and I researched one by one to compare CPU and GPU vs those who were compatible and incompatible.

This is a limited data instead of thousands of devices, but from those 80+ – this is what I gathered:

COMPATIBLE

Snapdragon: 730G, 732, 765G, 820, 835, 845, 855, 855+ 865, 865+

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 (Exynos 9810)

Exynos 9820

Kirin 980

Qualcomm 7250

Pixel 2/2XL, 3/3XL, 4, and 4a 5G

Helio G90T chipset

INCOMPATIBLE

Snapdragon 425, 625, 660, 662, 665, 670, 675

Snapdragon 835 (Only: Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8)

Kirin 650, 658, 659

Nvidia Tegra X1

Exynos 7904

Community manager PezRadar posted in the thread to clarify what the Diablo Immortal app update did. Please, don’t panic. The initial minimum requirement is targeting specific specs for an upcoming beta testing phase. This is not the final minimum requirements, and certainly not the only update further into Beta testing. Read what PezRadar said in Reddit:

its cool, we can get new phones, right?

Hi Apache222. At the moment, it is not necessary to buy a new phone. If your phone is incompatible right now after the update, after the beta test starts there might be a beta build that expands the compatibility to more devices (CPU/GPU) specs.

We will know for sure when the game launches. So hold back on buying a new phone until the final spec requirements are available post-launch.

There are still two options for those whose device got the “incompatible” message:

  1. Many mobile players have been able to participate in other popular games’s beta tests by installing the APK – to circumvent Google Play’s minimum requirement. A popular site for APKs is APKpure (dot) com.

  2. Bluestacks – an Android emulator for the PC/Mac. Not the best ideal way to play a mobile game, but you can map touchscreen keybinds to your keyboard. In the Bluestacks settings, you can choose a Samsung Galaxy S10 or ASUS ROG 2 engine. So that will allow you to launch Google Play from within Bluestacks to download/install Diablo Immortal Beta when it’s available globally or in your region.

Another popular Android emulator for PC is NetEase’s own Mumu.

The warning “in-app purchases” scares me.

But, that could be for cosmetics only.

We shall see - and rate it accordingly

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active seems to be compatible. You have S8 as incompatible

Whatever it is, Bluestacks will cover it :+1:

You mean loot boxes and in-game buffs, just like the Chinese version.

It’s a mobile game, luv.

in-app purchases refers to the in-game store. This means Diablo Immortal will be free to play with microtransactions. Those plans haven’t been revealed yet, but we are not entirely blind on how Blizzard operates microtransactions in Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch and World of Warcraft: transmogs, pets, mounts, and services such as name change, server transfer, and such. Not a big deal.

Predatory MTX IS a big deal.

But - I am taking a “wait and see” approach.

(MTX for cosmetics is fine)

Yea, at the moment wait-and-see is the only approach. I’m new to mobile games. For past articles I wrote this year at my website, I have played a few of them:

Genshin Impact
Raziel (Beta)
Legends
ANIMA ARPG
Evil Lands
Call of Duty: Mobile
Elder Scrolls: Blades
Bladebound
Blade Reborn
EVE: Echoes
Pascal’s Wager

Trust me. I totally get what the dread is about microtransactions. Some of these mobile games I mentioned are extremely obnoxious. Some slap advertisements on your face – Raziel, Genshin Impact, Bladebound, and Blade Reborn in particular are pretty invasive after each dungeon run, or in other ways.

I don’t think Diablo Immortal will be that aggressive – but wait-and-see.

I’m hoping it will only be for cosmetics.

I was a fan of Star Wars Uprising (until I hit the pay wall) and wished for a Diablo themed skin. I see a lot if similarities in game play (based on D:I demo videos).

Can’t wait for Blizzconline for update info. (But really waiting for next d4 quarterly update)

Next D4 Quarterly shoud be somewhere toward the end of December or early January at the latest.

Yeah I’m all for supporting a game if I’ll enjoy playing it long-term. Cosmetics are fine. But completely gimping item drop quality to force you into buying loot boxes like so many chinese mobile games do, NOT acceptable.

Btw, if you’re using Bluestacks 3, it has some problems updating to v4. Completely uninstall & do a clean v4 installation. Don’t forget to use the backup feature first - but it’s a bit glitchy. If you don’t have any games installed with it, you’re fine.

Diablo Immortal is the reason why I haven’t buy a new phone until now. I am planning to buy a new flagship after the Immortal is released.

I was getting tired of RAID: Shadow Legends

:fire: Cast fireball: 3 cent.
:comet: Cast glacial spike: 2 cent.
:cow: Open cow level: 1$

what about ten cent?

It’s a netease game. You will see things like exp buffs or some sort of stamina system going on. Be ready for that.

Hell, I know enough mobile games to know that this thing will most likely have some sort of capped daily progression where you have little to do in terms of actually improving your character after you’re done with daily quests of some discretion. Unless you pay.

And I’m not talking about obscure games, I’m talking about flagship asian mmos like Lineage II, Ragnarok M, Perfect World Mobile, Mu Origin… All beloved PC franchises that do that stuff on their mobile versions.

More like

:fire: cast fireball +3 for next 15 min == $0.10
:cow: Open cow level before 24hr cool down == $1

Get both + stuff for $4.99 $3.99. HURRY Sale ends in 2 days 14 hrs!!

As for the requirements, since this is a beta I understand they wanna limit it to phones they have tested and confirmed can run the game smoothly.

If those are the requirements of the final version, then it will be a bit hilarious

“Do you guys not have phones?”

Well yes I do but it’s not on that particular subset of phones you listed

I would argue that D:I is a Blizzard game built on a Netease engine.

I am hoping for “no predatory MTX”.
But, I am not going to hold my breath.
And, I’ll give more cheers/jeers type feedback after I played the game/have facts.

The game could be the 1st AAA Mobile aRPG game with no ads and no predatory MTX. But, I also have to concede to the idea “that is about as likely as D4 offline”

Don’t you guys have up-to-date phones?
