Personal loot would destroy Party and Quest system

I think you have misunderstood what people mean when discussing personal loot and FFA games.

In an 8 player FFA game, if Baal drop 5 items total, then in a personal loot game, Baal still drops 5 items total. It is not 40.

Since Baal drops 5 items total irrespective of FFA or personal loot game, at least 3 players still get nothing.

I do know how it works. Iā€™ve played many games with personal loot and they were fine. But for Diablo 2, the loot competitiveness is needed.

No, it isnā€™t. It can be an option for players to choose for themselves. Some do not want to deal with ninja looters and pickit users as well as all of the nonsense that FFA promotes.

So, youre talking about loot aquisition with a timer perferably, like in Path of Exile. Thats not personal loot. Personal loot is instanced to you, personally. You can see what drops for you and others cant.

PoE has 3 options.

  1. FFA
  2. Timed loot
  3. Personal loot

They coexist.

But this is Diablo 2 and it was a big part of it.

So, what Iā€™m getting is that you want a loot system that when the loot drops, items areā€¦ randomly selected of the dropped items for you to haveā€¦ giving a fair advantage to everyone to get something. Yeah, this doesnt sound fun. It sounds like loot easy mode and I, personally, am not for it.

The big use of personal loot I can see is public questing games. Those that are both questing and leveling up their character will get a piece of the loot pie. It will also deter those from coming in and ninja killing the bosses which forces a game restart to continue with act progression. Playing a ranged Amazon gets the short end on acquiring loot.

Farming games in Hellā€¦ Yeah, global lootā€¦ If playing with friends, split up and hit all of the L85 areas that you canā€¦ Or stay as a group and watch the massive loot piles fall.

ok yeah that is the scerario drops from personaā€™ loot are heavā€™y nerfed, to match what 1/8th of the current loot drop would be and yeah ok, sure but i dont think people asking for personal loot know they are going to see maybe 1/4th the drops they woudl in a party just becuase people joined thier gameā€¦

No you are running this against your chaos leveling service where you expect all players to abide by code and not touch your drops.
(Which effectively means 8xloot drops for you.
I know cause when d2 was active I ran Chaos services)

Ploot may effectively eliminate your leveling services that are not supposed to exist anyways.
Low levels are not supposed to be in Hell chaos.
You would now have a full game of able bodied players who would only get loot if they were active

Instead of chaos services ext we may get full game runs now :man_shrugging:

Seeing is different than acquiring. In a FFA multiplayer game with similar player abilities in their collecting, the gear acquisition rate is identical irrespective of FFA or personal loot. Nothing changes in that regard.

This is what many have asked for. Personal loot eliminates ninja looters and makes useless pickit use.

The second thing to consider is these numbers are drop/no drop per kill. It does not take into account how 8X players can do 8X damage while monster hp went up only 450%. The critical question is acquired loot per time.

i also completely left out that fact that having a 90% chance to drop an item as it would in an 8 player game is NOT EVEN REMOTELY the same as giving each one of players a 11.3% of generating the item.

and i am not even going to touch that because ā€œprobabilityā€ is an absolute mess and i am NOT doing that math.

it would be easier just to generate the loot and randomly distribute it to a random player than try to solve THAT mess
