⚡ Perfect time to release D4 Blizzcon demo

  • movies are being released months earlier on streaming services
  • discounts and special offers abound
  • people are stuck at home
  • Immortal beta is still months away and might not even be open to the public
  • D3’s Season 20 SUCKS
  • WC3 Reforged absolutely tanked so Blizzard stock is at an all-time low

I could go on all day, but the point remains: NOW is the perfect time to release that Blizzcon demo, and they won’t even need to use anything other than D3’s servers for that.

I don’t see a single downside to it.

  • there’s still not a functioning D3 emulator, so there’s hardly any risk of D4’s primitive code being cracked since it’ll also be online-only as well.
  • it will drum up some excitement for a game that is still at least 2 years away from release.
  • it will keep Blizzard in our radar, because like I said everything else they got going is tanking big time.
  • Wolcen is also tanking, having lost ~60% of its active playerbase in the last 30 days.

In the immortal words of Dutch: DO IT!! DO IIIIIIIIIT!!! COME ON, DO IT NOW!!!

This demo is boring as hell gameplay wise. Why do you want it?

Not according to pretty much everyone who tried it.

But I concur, even if it’s just a limited time of a couple weeks, it would be fun if it’s possible given the amount of people that could possibly be interested.

There is almost no content in the demo, just a handful of items, short dungeons, and a world boss. The skills were locked and you could only play for like 15-20 minutes a session. And every aspect show is still in development and is very likely to change.

There is just no reason for Blizzard to release it in such a state, and players would run out of things to do is less than a day.

Not even close…

People liked gameplay and visual style. First one is just a copy from D3, and visual style is new, which is good. But generally there was nothing interesting, just a “new location” for Diablo 3 with better graphics.

But literally every response from people at Blizzcon whi tried enjoyed. There was not any notion it was boring.

While it may be one small area it is something different. That’s what has people clamoring for a chance to try it.

You’re clearly the life of any party…

And YOU don’t have to play it.

Reputation stocks maybe but not their financial stocks.

I didn’t say I have to. I just asked why someone wants to play it so much, since there is nothing special in this demo. Why not go and play D3 instead.

No on had made a claim there was anything special. You seem unable to understand the concept of something new that creates interest. That is all.

All this “new” was shown in a dozen youtube videos. What else “new” do you expect from it? I’d understand the craving to play it if, for example, the very gameplay was different - but it is exactly D3 gameplay.

So then you seem to not understand that playing a video game is vastly different than watching it. While watching some I kept thinking to myself how I would have looked in that unexplored part people never went, or I would have tried something different. The experience to control is something people want. Not be a passenger. Are you being purposely obstinate? Hiw is this not obvious?

This is obvious if we are talking about full games. You check youtube videos, like it, and then say, wow, I want to play this game. But here the situation is very different, unless you kept yourself from watching these vids to avoid spoilers or for some other reason. Or unless this is completely new demo with different skills, chars, locations, etc. As for control - go play D3, exactly same control )

Frankly, I’d like to check it out and I am currently playing D3, among a host of 3 other ARPGs.

Well, ofc, we all would test it if Blizz were to offer it now and for free, but I don’t understand this crazy urge “DO IT!! DO IIIIIIIIIT!!! COME ON, DO IT NOW!!!”

One, it’s a quote. Two, it was used to be funny. Three, everyone us sitting at home bored due to COVID-19. This all so obvious, hence my are you being purposely obstinate comment.

The demo will entertain for 1 hour maybe 2. Even if it might only require a tiny bit of effort I’m not sure it’s actually worth it for Blizzard.

“You you you you”. How about looking in the mirror, eh?
