I have recently been playing both on PC and Console and the differences are very notable.
Console: Conquests like Sprinter and Curses (and their hardcore equivalent) are all but impossible solo. In general movement around the screen is much easier and I don;t feel so much like a moth attracted to the fireballs being thrown at me. Someone mentioned in another thread the difference in NG as well which is much better for PC users. Console seems to have a more stable wifi connection.
PC movement is a little more clunky and I feel my character aims for all those fireballs being shot at me. I have had some internet stability issues on my PC which frankly has prevented me from event attempting HC play on the PC. Picking up specific items is much easier on the PC and you do not get trapped trying to fire your left click option (x Button on PS4) when near something like a triune monument or ancient device bounty quests.
Challenges: Much easier on Console…even that crap WD build a few weeks ago…while I never made time, I was certainly much faster on the console than PC.
I find the drop rates of ancient and primals comparable, though I have been able to reforger more ancients via cube on the console.
I am also playing the same classes on each…DH GOD build and Monk POJ TR/Flurry build.
Curses, due to differences, is all but impossible with the exception of one class on the console. And you need that one class if you want to get the conquest.
Sprinter on the other hand is easier to run solo on the console than with a group due to a bug that’s never been fixed since seasons were introduced 10 seasons ago. But I’ve seen it soloed with every class with the exception of a barb & crusader. The difference is that it is significantly harder on the console than the PC. I’d guess it’s like completing the conquest in 55 minutes solo, or 52 minutes with a group. But due to the inability to teleport exactly to where you want to go, none of your characters can move as fast as on the PC, and also some shortcuts are removed on the console.)
Movement though I still think is vastly easier on the PC than the console. Plus, when you enter rifts & greater rifts, your Circle button on the PS4 (and whatever it is for the Xbox and Switch I’m assuming are the same) is disabled for several seconds, meaning if you have a crucial skill attached, you’re out of luck.
When entering a rift or GR press SQUARE on PS4 and it gets rid of the few secs where no skill can be activated and you then have instant access to skills.

Console games are hosted locally, so lateny is not an issue. (If this is what you were referring to).
On console? If yes, I would be quite surprised to learn that the necromancer can solo sprinter. Do you have a video of that?
I mean that I do not lose my internet connection while playing or have latency cause the death of my character…its why I don’t do hardcore on PC.
I quit the PC version altogether and went to console because the controls are much better for my tastes, but the ammount of cheaters is frustrating
agreed the cheating is horrible, but I don’t really compete on the leaderboard…at least in the sense of trying to be say in the top 100 or so… My current goals are to set one of the top 3 times based on my current tier…So if my current tier is 81, I want to be the fastest at tier 81…yes it goes away when I hit tier 82, but the I am striving to be the best tier 82.
I could probably push my current char to be able to survive GR 95+ but I would not have the best time (which usually comes when one does not die. have to say I am impressed with some of the times I have seen…On some rifts the top time was just barely over a minute for a monk character. My best time overall currently was somewhere doing GR 60 I did one in 1:50 is. I was really happy with that.
Unfortunately, no. But I mean, you’re still asking for near perfect conditions.
This doesn’t work. Both the Square and Circle buttons are pretty much disabled at the start of a Rift.
Do you remember what their time was for the necromancer or did you just see “sprinter achieved” on the screen? Getting sub 1 hour is quite difficult on console (except monk) so I’m surprised that such a run hasn’t been submitted as a speedrun.
Sorry, I don’t have a time, just saw Sprinter achieved. I’ve been mainly focusing on what classes are possible, rather than trying for a speed run.
One area that the PS4 though has over the Switch is that you can replace the PS4 HDD with an SSD. While not to the speed of a PC SSD, this will cut down the loading times significantly, buying you a couple extra minutes. So, it could potentially be one of those that is close to impossible on the Switch.
For example, with your video, it took you 21 seconds to load into Act 1. I can load in, in about 4-6 seconds with my PS4 + SSD, which is even faster than the PC loading for me, since it’s local, rather than Blizzard servers.
Did you “see it” as in “I saw the run with my own eyes” or “someone has a time on the sprinter leaderboard using a necromancer”?
I have a question, why would you buy the game again to play it on another platform if you already have it?
I only saw the end, as it was on the suggested videos at the time for the PS4 network (he was solo Battlefields of Eternity, where it started, until the end). It’s possible that they could have had a player helping them before that point in time. I asked him and they said it was purely solo, so I’m going on good faith here. (He was the only other person on the Sprinter board too at the time outside my group, and no one else got Sprinter for another couple days).
And one other thing to take into account is that it really is harder to run it as a group. If he wasn’t the host, the game would have reset, and he’d have lost his Sprinter achievement. So, even if he had a monk running for him, the monk would have had to be doing it with network delay on top of the group bugs.
Have you uploaded your runs anywhere? I’ve had a hard time finding videos of sprinter done solo on console with any other class than monk so if it’s been done several times, I would imagine that someone would have recorded it.
No. The only one I’ve uploaded was the group one, as at the time, no one thought it was possible. I’ve gotten a little bit better though since season 10. There just isn’t much of a community for the conquests on the PS4, so it’s not real surprising. It went from like 40 people in Season 10 who accomplished it to currently 6 in Season 21.
Since season 15 though, I’ve stopped focusing on Sprinter/Speed Racer, and more on season start speed leveling.
Nope…have used it for years…start a GR…press square and you can instantly use skills after the press…PS4.
The only reason I don’t just go console with D3 is that craptacular Nephalem Glory mechanic (2x damage buff) and monster HP being tuned around it. If that got removed I’d play it and actually enjoy it, even with the UI limitations for stash and inventory.
Because My wife sometimes likes to join in and using the ps4 we only had to by 1 game. as opposed to buying and installing on her pc and then linking us. when we wish to pay together (though our pcs are in different rooms so fun family conversation would be lost. I had the PC version for quite a while. Console is about 8 months old
Oh one other funny observation…DH can strafe in place on console and not in PC.
