I was wondering what are your thoughts on the graphics…they look really similar to path of exile which personally i dont like at all.
They are nowhere near PoE’s, but both of them are bad. If we talk about D4 that is.
I think it’s an OK start, from which to keep improving.
One thing that stands out to me about the D4 gameplay video is that the textures are low resolution and look smudgy / blurry / pasty. I hope that’s just because it’s still in development and that the release game’s textures will be higher resolution.
There are things about the colour balance that I’d tweak - some aspects seem too bright, and others like there’s not enough colour contrast.
I noticed the animations and monster behaviour, and some monster models, are still too cartoony, and that some models reuse Diablo 3 animations. Overall, I think that the animations need work and should be made more convincing and serious, to have integrity with the atmosphere and not include cheesy things like the cartoony initial big roar of the giant monster that many players fought together in the gameplay stream.
As an early reveal of work in progress, they’re OK. But there are visible a lot of things to be refined and adjusted.

D3 looks too cartoonish, we don’t like the graphics they’re bad…

D4 graphics look like POE, We don’t like them they’re bad…
Diablo community…
This looks so much better than poe you cannot even compare.
But there is some excon from poe coming up in a few weeks I think, let’s see if they finally can make something nice to look at. One of the worst things now in poe is how awful it looks.
I take it you don’t wear glasses…but should. Or lack the ability to stream at anything higher than 240p.
Diablo 2 looks also awful this days but people still play it bcs…wait for it…the amazing content and gameplay.
I mean if you’re all about graphics you have to play games like Anthem f.e.
POE is more for Diablo 2 Veterans but also for ARPG fans who love the huge diversity in endgame, character builds, activities, hunt for items and not Paragon, etc…for me and many others the graphic is more than good enough.
And with 4.0 things will change anyway, so maybe also for the graphic b…es out there.
But doesnt mean that I dislike Diablo 3 and upcoming 4.
Diablo3 = Open a beer and brain AFK slashing after a hard day at work.
POE = Complexity at its best…so many things to know and to do…perfect for the weekend to dive completely into the mater.
Yeah except poe is nothing like D2, not anymore. It has become flashier and it has more skill polution and clearspeed than D3 ever had. And while I had some fun playing Poe, I cannot get myself to ever go through that terrible story mode ever again. And 99% of the people copy any build from someone else like in most games, there is nothing complex about it
Just a small edit, since above makes it too negative. I do want the next Poe thing to be a hit, I hope I can enjoy that one more than what it is now.
Except I’ve clearly said that D4 graphics are not like PoE’s. And I don’t fancy any of those.
The D2 fans calling for darker, grittier atmosphere is kinda funny because D2 was rather colorful in places, and many of the enemies were downright goofy, like fallen and the A3 pygmies, and the goat men made pretty funny noises, which was part of the charm. D1 was the “scary” game where you couldn’t zoom across the screen in two nanoseconds.
As for D4, the ice and desert environments looked nice. The piles of bodies and blood look muuuuch better than D3’s rubber and plastic feel.
I’m liking them so much, however I see a tiny thing I’d like them to tweak that are the glossy reflections seen whenever light hits a surface.
They’re very common at PoE and I thought it was because of the indie birth of the game, however I didn’t expect them to be there at the blockbuster-born D4.
