Paragon Diminishing Returns Instead Of A Hard Cap

Just my 2 gold on the Paragon Restructuring blizzard is trying

Personally i like the fact they’re reigning in the power that people can get from having tens of thousands of paragon points dumped into mainstat, where they end up with many MANY times the toughness and damage of people that can’t play the game like a full time job, or have a brother called chris.

But at the same time i also like the fact that the paragon system allows me to keep getting stronger even if i don’t get lucky, it means i’m always being rewarded for my time spent playing no matter what my RNG throws at me.

I don’t want to give up that feeling of my time always being rewarded entirely just to reign in that power.

Pretty sure i’m not the only person to suggest this, so i’m not claiming the idea as my own, but i’d like to see paragons remain the way they are with the 20,000 cap, but just have a diminishing return on how much mainstat you can get from a certain point, and hell maybe actually juice up the amount of power you can earn from lower paragon levels, so that upper level is even more diminished (but still better)

For example, and its just a very rough example

Paragon 800-2,000 = 10 Main stat per paragon point

Paragon 2,000-5,000 = 5 Main stat per paragon point

Paragon 5,000-20,000 = 1 Main stat per paragon point

Or perhaps we could even come up with something that combines the old system with the new proposed system, either way i just hope we can come up with a way to reign in that power disparity while preserving the feeling of always being rewarded for time spent.

I think the general idea of the paragon point limitation is to eliminate the primary desire for people to run paragon bots during seasons. It’s no secret that there are many out there who ran the bots to empower their characters with massive points into mainstat. To those who actually spent their time legitimately GR grinding, my hats off to them to endure such a grind.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that this limitation comes during the last “new” season, right before the game officially goes into maintenance mode. I know the PTR notes state the change is exclusively for Season 29, but my gut feeling tells me this will become a permanent feature going forward… “The beginning of the end” so to speak.

A ton of players running bots eats up server and bandwidth resources. Also banning bots and having the customer support department handle any appeals costs money/manhours. Removing the primary reason to run bots in the first place cuts those costs. Sure the cheaters will probably just find the next highest priority reason to run bots in the game, which will likely be finding the best possible gear.

The boiled down truth is with the game soon entering maintenance mode, Blizzard is going to be doing everything they can to cut running costs of the game for the foreseeable future.

Paragon already has diminishing returns.

There’s a big difference between +5 to main stat when you have 1000 main stat, and +5 to main stat when you have 10000.

The paragon cap is just blizzard catering to the people that complain about others being able to play more.

If the problem is bots, they should ban botters, not punish the whole playerbase.

Being a skillful player≠= haveing copious amounts of time to play

Ok?

20 characters……

So basically not much would change. 800-2000 would receive big boost. Non season would get big hit for those who are far above 5000.

Maybe something like this:
801-1400: 5 pts (nothing would change)
1401-2000: 3 pts (-2 change from current)
2001+: 1 pts (-4 change from current)

Paragon already has dimnishing returns.

The 5 mainstats going from 800 to 801 have more impact than going from 4000 to 40001. Just because they are a smaller portion of the total, the more you already have
