Outdated Loot Pick Up Design

The Game has changed a lot over the years, now its all about running rifts fast, so stopping to pick up loot makes no sense. Instead Mobs should drop Loot Orbs that you just walk over, like the current ones in Greater Rifts. and each one could have a chance of giving you an item. Colored Coded just like the items currently are ‘blue orb could give a blue item, or crafting mat’ etc

Except that some people don’t pick up every item. We would also need loot filters to specify what loot you want to auto collect.

It’d probably be easier just to include loot in the auto pickup and let players filter it out.

Though at this point I doubt D3 is getting any sort of update for this, and I would hope D4 changes things so this isn’t needed.

Here’s my 2 cents.

All materials, gems and gold should be auto-loot.

All items your character wears (gear) should be manual-loot.

Agreed. Mats/Gems/Gold should be automatically picked up. When I came back and played some D3 rifts, this stuck out like a sore thumb. In Warframe, all the pets have Vacuum/Fetch that pickup almost everything (there’s like 3-4 specific things they don’t pick up). But if your pet dies… Then you have to explicitly walk over stuff again!

Maybe they could make another Follower token? For example, Scoundrel’s could be “Plunder” and he will suck up all the loot within some area. The catch is that he can die and you can lose this convenience. I mean, that’s if Blizzard wants to attach a price tag for such abilities like Warframe (pets can die permanently in a mission!).

Just give you a loot screen at the end, let you quick pick all/only/yellow etc and do things like…place in inventory, salvage, send to vault.

I like to loot everything because everything converts to mats.

At the very least they should add a pick up short cut key so you don’t have to manually click on each item.

Grim Dawn has a nice looting system. You just check a box for what you want to auto pick up or leave, or even see in the game.

D4 should have a toggle list of items you want to auto pick up like Pagan Online does.

Haven’t touched GD in a while, I knew you could filter what you could see, don’t remember auto pick up.

Would having a taggable setting in the options menu to choose what your character picks up or auto salvage on the map be a good option instead? Like multiple checkable boxes for each item (gold, gems, common drops ect…) in the options menu. Check what you want your character to pick up to the inventory or simply to just auto salvage for materials. I believe this simple change would make this a much better long term playing experience seeing as this idea would help players not fall into boredom of having to click every few steps and continue the action so to speak. The impact would be much more fluid for game play.

I would quite like that. Dungeon Siege 2 had that and it is really convenient. But that might just be because I miss click items often for some reason.

I am actually fine with it as is, except for mats. But still not a big deal for me.
