i’m talking about gr pushing with tal set
i like being able to wear jeopardy+aughlid+tal rasha, that’s why i use a 1 hand weapon
now which ethereal is better between oculus and wizardspike?
the dmg is almost the same but oculus offers more toughness and apoc while wizardspike more attack speed (i can spam meteors like crazy)
Wizardspike has the stacking damage which is up to 2x multiplier.
Wizardspike is great for cold. Oculus is great for arcane.
yes but oculus gives +75-100% dmg (it’s the first stat), isn’t it almost the same?
No, it’s not. That one is used to multiply the base damage which on The Oculus is low. Wizardspike has a high damage range and does not need that.
Ignoring the stacking damage, The Oculus and Wizardspike are roughly equal. But that stacking damage is an additional multiplier, making Wizardspike more powerful.
that’s enough, wizzy ftw! (unless one day i decide to use star pact)
If you look at the leaderboards it is a real mix between the two. Looks pretty even to me.
On paper Wizardspike ~60% percent better than Oculus ( just total meteor damage, attack speed isn’t included ), but everything depends on a build. Hydra - Wizardspike only, DMO Twister - Wizardspike works fine despite its high attack speed/possible energy issue, Tal Star Pact - Oculus.
Refer my post above, it looks a real 50/50 mix between Oculus and Wizard Spike for Meteor.
Oculus looks good for SP but its inferior. Its usable on low paragon or just 150 clear allowing deflection on MW. Its not suitable for 150 time attack.
Wizspike is inferior to mansong at progression , especially big packs but on average 2x faster on RG and extremely better than mang at finishing off low hp elites when trash is thined out. 3 Apoc from conduit + 4 from OH is sufficient to sustain if the player knows how to generate density.
OID is exceptional strong in mid - melee range gameplays on tal. Oculus is not very useful in SC where best defense is damage.
When I look at the leaderboards the only ones playing Mansong are very high (4000+) paragons also.
My personal rating:
- ManSong’s Lesson
- Wizardspike
- Oculus
I just recently managed to do GR150 with LoD Comet and from my perspective Wizardspike was definitely the best. The possibility to take OID was too good to pass. This along with Karini and Stone Gauntlets made me immortal. I was able to stand inside molten explosion and my shields held up. From the damage persective I didn’t have to kill elites since I spawned conduit and it melted ~7 packs for me.
APoC on helmet and offhand (plus resource on crit from altar) was enough to stay at full AP. Only real issue was during the RG fight but it was managable.
For LoD solo, OID setup seems clearly the best for me also. LoD build is not so mobile as Tal Rasha (teleport cooldown) and cannot benefit from the big multiplier of Zei, so it’s naturaly to stay close to mobs and keep OID up.
I have tried the LoD build with star pact, and don’t like that variation very much. In dense 150 map it probably works well, but I like to play more maps and keeping the OID bonus up is not fun with star pact + distance between mobs.
What I really like now is the counter archon LoD comet: I can manage so that outside archon there are mobs, and in archon mode the toughness is good enough and mobility super. As the build contains the Zodiac ring, the OID cooldown is easy to manage. Just need to be careful when exiting archon to not drop Squirt’s amulet bonus or die. I have done tens of 150 runs in most types of maps (just skipped some absolute worst ones when I felt like it), and didn’t fail even once yet to finish it in 15min. But my gear has been quite good from the start.
